It's a terrible Aliens experience, but an OK game in my opinion. The story is really bad, the size and proportions of the Sulaco are incredibly distorted, the characters are paper thin... but it's pretty fun, especially on Ultimate Badass. It's like Alien 3 lightgun game: it has nothing to do with the movie, but it's pretty amusing on its own. Oh, and the single player DLC is actually quite good. So: underrated? Yeah, I guess. It's not abysmal. It became a scapegoat for frustrated reviewers, just like DNF (which I really like despite its technical problems).
