I wouldn't count on it. I have a feeling this game is going to be EXTREMELY story and Marine development. Only chance of playing as a Xenomorph is if the game has MP or by cheats.

True mods have played a big role in Obsidian's other game, KotOR 2 so mods should be accessible in this one.
