if something is unclear in a movie why wouldnt you take the filmmakers views into account inorder to find out what was intended?

It isn't unclear. It's a non-issue. It doesn't matter who's older - There's just jack all to say that the AvP ones were.

...except for the director. this all goes back to your view that "the author is dead."
