What better way to celebrate Predator’s 33rd anniversary than with news of new Predator goodies?! Following the news of the Alpha Predator DLC’s inclusion in the physical figures, Illfonic has just announced a new update for Predator: Hunting Grounds that sees the level-cap raised, and a very wise Greyback as your prize when you hit the new cap!

In addition, we are increasing the level cap to 150. We have heard from quite a few of you that you have hit 100 and we want to make sure there is more for you to do. Also, congrats on hitting 100! To reward players for climbing to these higher levels, we have added chase items that will unlock at milestones throughout the journey to level 150. Platinum Predator armor and mask tints are rewarded for reaching level 100, followed by Fireteam Knives and the Hammerhead assault rifle. Once players reach level 150, they will gain access to the Elder Predator class as well as Golden Predator armor and mask tints. We have also added a special set of Elite Fireteam weapon shaders that unlock once you reach weapon level 10 for each gun.

In addition to Greyback, Dutch’s Hammerhead and knife from May’s DLC are now available to unlock through play, alongside shaders for many Fireteam and Predator items!

This month's free update for everyone will give you the ability to earn Dutch's QR5, "Hammerhead," rifle and his knife. In addition, there are many tints, skins, and shaders that once found and unlocked in the field lockers will be added to the customization experience. The customizations are the Obsidian Shader for Predator Weapons, Obsidian Tint for Predator Masks, Crimson Tint for Predator Armors, Sage Tint for Predator Armors, Ivy Tint for Default Predator Skin Patterns, Hydra Tint for Raptor Predator Skin Patterns, Blue Viper Shader for Fireteam Weapons, Digital Tint for Fireteam Outfits, Full Suite of Hammerhead Weapon Shaders, and Special Shader's for Dutch's Knife.

As always you can find the full patch notes over on Illfonic’s forums. And that’s not all! Illfonic have revealed that June’s DLC will be the Samurai Predator! This new Predator looks to be based on Prime Studio’s Sengoku Predator and will be available from the 30th of June!

Coming later this month is the second paid DLC. We gave you a new Fireteam member last month so it only seemed right that we launch a new Predator. This month we are excited to introduce you to the Samurai Predator. The Samurai Predator comes to the hunting grounds from feudal Japan, this demon from legend once hunted skilled warriors who protected the island nation. You can find more information and purchase the Samurai Predator on June 30 at the PlayStation and Epic stores. We are excited to see the Samurai lurking in the jungle very soon!

Illfonic needed to balance this out with a Harrigan equipped with a melee smart disc or something!

Someone didn't do their homework. Looks like its modeed after the hot toys figure before the accuracy changes. It's not even screen accurate.

Elder Predator for free and Samurai Predator as paid dlc? Haha. I think I will pass this DLC.

The Elder weirdly has never been completely accurate and I'm not expecting him to be here. Regardless this hopefully will shut people up about Jungle Hunter being an exclusive. I'm starting to feel like I'm cursed with the sheer amount of Elder Predator stuff I'm getting a hold of now. Samurai is also really cool, I was just thinking about that when I looked at one of the masks (I think Phoenix?) so it's kind of cool to see it pop up literally the next day,

Sidenote; Greyback has his tri-laser mounted on the gun. I know it probably wont work for the way the game handles the laser but it'd be cool if it was moved over for him.

Wow, so much stuff! The Samurai Predator definitely isn't something I expected, but I think it's super cool that they're adding in Predators from figures and stuff. It really makes it seem like anything is possible with regards to who might show up as DLC!

And a free Elder Predator for reaching rank 150?! That's great! I figured they'd class Dutch's knife and gun as the free DLC for this month, so it's great that they're also adding that too. It was only a matter of time before they increased the level cap, but I'm surprised (and glad) they did it so soon! And with all those shaders I'm kinda regretting not holding on to all the veritanium I got from doing the latest weekly. :laugh: Oh well, plenty more to earn where that came from!

Yeah for real. Come the end of the month I'm dreading the wait times going back to being what they were at launch. Oh well, at least we've got three new Predators incoming as a result!

It also sounds like these fire team knives that some of us have been lucky enough to get only from loot crates up until now (sorry Voodoo ;) ) are now going to be unlockable at various points post-rank 100.

So alas! Now those of us who have been smiled on by the random number goddess are going to feel just a little bit less special now that everyone is going to able to get them! :laugh: Oh well, at least we still have the shaders (and a couple of trophies). ;)

Elder uses a mask, it's a undamaged but rusty version of the 87 mask

Interesting to me they opted for yet another mask. The guy actually has three at this point with 1718 having the stylized take on the JH helmet and the version from the cover. And now it's just a rusty (albeit intact) JH.

Nah it looks like he was 102 based on the screenshot. But you can still see him in the game now before you can unlock him.

I'm saddened the Samurai Predator isn't based off the Prime 1 Sengoku Predator.

For some reason in my mind I was thinking it was, even though they clearly look different! :laugh:

If anything it looks like it's based on the Hot Toys figure rather than the Prime 1:

Did we have alternate roars before? I know we have some variation on the classic but I don't think I've heard that one specifically since AVP 2010 or maybe Mortal Kombat.

Paging Voodoo Magic; Is this roar in Predator 2? I feel like I should know where that roar comes from.

Well to be fair that 1718 cover wasn't really originally its cover, right?  That cover art was co-opted from something else if I'm remembering correctly.

But I'm personally okay with using the JH mask with different shaders on the Elder, since, as you mentioned, his mask in 1718 feels like a stylized version of the Jungle Hunter's.

Yeah the reason I mentioned the cover was that it was used for Golden Angel's Neca figure and if they're supposed to have canonical backstories then the designs should hold at least some merit. It's not the worst thing and had he had one in Predator 2 it probably would've looked something like that. That being said he's already been given two so while it's not out of the question he had or has others I'd have appreciated them going a bit further with that.

I still can't get over that Neca stuff is canonical. I guess Lost Predators are time travelers after all.  :P

Whether he let us live (he quit after we gunned him down) or he got sloppy the Elder model has some weird quirks and I'm wondering if anybody else noticed this.

- Plasmacaster is a separate object. I don't know if this vanishes on death in-general as I never noticed but Elder's went missing after he died revealing the Predator's back is fully modeled.

- The blade gauntlet actually hangs out in the void before Elder is called in.

- The wrist computer is a separate object entirely with Elder having a fully rendered arm underneath it. I'm not sure why they did this either as the player will never see this outside of a glitch like I presume happened here.

Weird thing as well, the icon used for Elder is the serpent design from AVP. Weird that it would reappear on Elder but I wonder if the internal document cites the Xenomorph trophy as being Greyback's in this case. I think I heard somewhere it is supposed to be a  Xenomorph and this would make for a connection.

I know this is a nothing complaint that I'm going to make, but after finally arriving to level 150 and getting the Elder class, which I've been looking forward to for so long, and even though I'm happy with it.....I just can't stop frowning at those wussy looking wristblades it got. Since its basically and older jungle hunter, why not slide that model in or at least the new standerd wristblade model that the other classes got.

Other than that, it looks good and is currently my top Pred for gameplay. All these models look good and having photomode should be a thing in the game.

I am opposite in this case. Wristblades should be and look like they are compactable/retractable. Anything bigger does not make sense to be attached to a forearm/wrist.
Even if looking at it from realistic point of view, it is harder to maneuver long blades or blade attached this way. Not to mention a direct attack must be less powerful in comparison to shorter wristblades or short sword based on physics.

Well following how the first Predator movie does it, it feels part well of how the wristblades extend and retract.

I'm not going to lie though, I always found the longer versions of the AVP ones to look a bit silly.

As for an realistic point of view, not only that Preds are much stronger and faster than us so their power output into these blades would make for some nasty killing blows, but also there are real life related weapon from India known as the Katar and its incredibly effective and deadly weapon that the people of India have used for centuries.

Slightly off topic; it would be pretty cool to see some Indian martial arts based around the Katar implemented in Predator wristblade choreography

In the movie, wristblades are not oversized like in the game for all standard Preds and '87. They just do not feel right. Not to mention their small housing size. That is why I was happy what they did with them for the Elder.

Personally I only care about P1 and P2 movies. And I would rather have Preds with standard wristblades and naginatas in AVP than silly longer versions.

The Katar is not even close to the wristblades because it has to be held in hand and its wrist strap mainly helps to keep its blade straight with a line of forearm for efficacy.

However yes, it is sci-fi franchise. So anything can go. Even silly stuff.

I'm just super happy with the look and design of elder all together and he's my faBorrow Pred to play as currently. I love how he handles and I'm ok with his stats. He just gets me way more pumped for City Hunter. He's most likely going to be my go-to/top pic for preds once he drops later this month
