Forum member Michael Harper has just sent us a new set of scans from the latest issue of Empire Magazine which features a 18-page article on Prometheus. The article includes several new pictures, character descriptions and interviews. There’s also a mention to what the next piece of marketing will be like. A very interesting read. Check out the scans by clicking the image below.
Thanks again to Michael Harper for these fantastic images.

I'm sorta lost...which one is page 77?
Found It.
Thanks for these. If I wasn't so exhausted, I would read the article right now but at least there's something to look forward to tomorrow. :)
Thanks to Michael Harper and ikarop for going to the trouble of scanning and posting the pages!
Nice
Im reading that we will find out about who layed those eggs in the cargo hold.
Sounds to me that they will use a queen from Aliens? that would be something.

Dear god, this is gonna be an awesome read. Look at how 2001 those seats in the Vickers shot are.

Fifield's head tattoo looks way cool in this scene. 8) There's lots of great detail in the overall character design.

I am betting that the report that we read last summer about seeing the classic xeno head on the what no appear to be crew bodies are what we'll be seeing at the end of the film. What gives it away is the description of the creatures with some kind of blueish space suit on.

I'm still not convinced that report was anything more then bullshit.
Unless what we're honestly buying into/believing here is that the crew of Prometheus, or what's left of them by the end of the movie, are all seen huddled together in their suits with mishapen alien-like heads?
I... I really doubt that.
Is it just me or did the website Prometheusnews blatantly remove our tag from the scans and ran with the images?

Stunt double IMO.
At least the article confirms that the Space Jockey is the blue humanoid and also gives away the size (9feet). That will get rid of a lot of speculation (and create new ones).
Oh, what a glorious thing to wake up to! This site = love.

Considering Vickers is wearing the same outfit during the teams initial expedition to the temple, I think we can assume this pic is on the ship and not Earth. Maybe her private quarters?

Need this movie NOW.
Well now we know for real, that the Space Jockey is indeed wearing a suit that makes it look like a space tapir and that the head in the room, is them and the lines are actually on their real faces and they are 9 feet tall.Mystery solved on their appearance, they are us.
I love that shot of Vickers with the flamethrower.
Thanks for scanning and putting this up, guys. :)
The 3rd to last interview question is already causing controversy on the imdb board. Despite Ridley stating he hasn't decided on a rating and that he'd do everything to get the most aggressive film he could, he also described the film as:
"Essentially, it's kinda R. The little bastards will still get in anyway, so what's the difference? It's not just about blood, it's about ideas that are very stressful."
This is being interpreted as an indirect acknowledgement of a PG13 rating.

Yes, they just flagrantly cut off the bottom of every page, but we all here know who did all the work. There can't be two absolutely identical scans!.. I believe you are going to ask them to restore the files and publish the link to your AVPGalaxy news.
Thankfully.
I love how it's completely unrelated to what precedes it, however. Haha. They really wanted to get the point accross.

I however will keep the discovery of an Xeno skull in Predator 2 part of canon, as opposed to chalking it up as a hoax. I'm good with writing off the AvP films though.

THe IMDB board is the pond life of the internet - with a few honourable exceptions.
I took this answer to mean that the material is R at its core, and that Ridley - while acknowledging that he may have to "soften" it for PG-13 - would rather not do that.
Awesome read!
A nice, lengthy, great article. Great stuff.
When Sean Harris said he didn't like the type of big blockbusters, he reminded me of Harry Dean Stanton in Alien. They further that with Milburn being the "Parker" here.

Sean Harris has never been particularly, erm, attractive, but from what I've seen of him in Prometheus, he looks strangely
appealing. Lord help me.
Well now we don't have argue about whether or not the blue guy is the jockey. That said, it is obvious since the wondercon and imax trailers came out that his suit was visible under the opening/closing SJ ribs and arm armor. Also, the giant head had to be their head. It's nice to finally just have this confirmed. Nothing else would make sense. We only build monuments like that in our own image why wouldn't they? This also helps decode the early rumors about the giant head flying the ship. It's not the literal stone head, it's the figure depicted by the head statue.
Maybe some acid added to his face might diffuse some of the magnetism... ;)
I really like how the article doesn't delve to much about the plot, but I'm very satisfied with all the stills and brief character looks.

Probably traces back to the anthology box set, more than likely where they sourced it, blame those multimedia designers.
Well, that was a good read. :) Lots of delicious photos too!
- At this point I'm certain the characters and the dynamic between them is going to be great.
- I'm loving everything I'm reading and seeing in relation to the visuals and sets.
- I hope we get news of the rating soon so we can stop playing guessing games and, obviously, it better be R.
- I don't know how I feel about the giant human-like creatures being the engineers. I guess I wanted something more Giger.
- It seems that mutation and those giant guys are going to form a large part of the horror in the story.
- I have faith in Ridley Scott. It's the Damon Lindelof contribution to this film that worries me.
I'm more than happy that Scott decided to have tons and tons of practical effects and props. It make the film and the actos' interaction with their environment so much more real.
Take that, Lucas!

I've just got the iPad Empire digital version, and I've screenshotted the feature. It should be fine apart from a couple of the character bios (because of the swipe for more), and the resolution is limited to the one of the iPad 2 (if anyone had the ipad 3 then that would've been better)

I think it takes place 33 or 35 years before Alien...

Is anybody able to export the original iPad file?
That way I could rip all the original images from it.

I can;t do that because my iPad isn't jailbroken :L The magazine itself is stored separately from the app, like an add-on download, which is stored on the iPad itself, not on iTunes
Lindelof's comments at the end pretty much confirm for me we're going to see a Xeno at the end of Prometheus. What else could he mean by comparing it to the encore at the end of a rock concert? Think about the implications of that comment - when a classic pop/rock act play one of their most famous numbers as an encore, that means the fans get to see/listen to/experience something from the past that they all love. SUREly that's the Xeno?
Plus I've always felt, since there's been this emphasis on the "final 8 minutes" or whatever, that they simply wouldn't be able to resist a Xeno moment. I know Prometheus is a very different film to a direct "prequel", but I've always felt the introduction of the Xeno, with its iconic status, is simply too powerful an image to overlook.

Sorry if I am asking stupid questions but I have no idea how all this exactly works.
But can't this additional file be moved or copyed to another media or storage device?

No it can't. It stays on the iPad, unless it's jailbroken (i.e. hacked) When you have the Empire app (that you sync to your iPad with iTunes and back), it doesn't have the magazine in it, you have to download it separately within the app, and it saves onto a location in your iPad that only the app can access, and everything else (iTunes etc.) can't/ So you can't just copy the magazine from the iPad. But when you jailbreak it, you can browse thorugh you iPad's files and find the magazine files, and copy them over. Hope that makes sense.

bit of both. they let them trash the AvP movies openly and the article mentions the story does indeed invalidate AvP. i say it's safe to asume only what the movie says counts.

Indeed, though from what I've heard the online timeline was put there to explain the background of things they couldn't elucidate throughout the movie. That. and its viral purpose, of course.

Sounds to me that they will use a queen from Aliens? that would be something.
One has to be careful not to confuse the journalist's narration and direct quotes. Seemed more like the reporter's personal supposition to me.

the fact that they're acknowledging the mess at all just feels good.
See above. Just supposition. I suspect two things will eventually be true:
1: It won't really turn out to contradict two certain movies in any really meaningful way. At best, it simply won't reference them.
2: '
Prometheus' will turn out to have at least one minor plot point which seems not to fit into known canon, rendering it a bit awkward when trying to reconcile it to the originals.
There's already stuff in the WI timeline that's dodgy. It's like they're trying too hard.
However, that doesn't have any bearing on what the film will reveal at this point.
David is the victim of prejudice... So that's why Vickers is slamming him to the wall at the end of the third tv spot. I think this movie is getting more interesting.
Eesh... I hope not much is made out of the 'prejudice' being alluded to in recent quotes. Like an emotionless robot somehow taking exception to things because it feels offended.
That was the biggest problem I had with 'The Animatrix' when it came out. Why would anyone programme manual labour devices with the capability to feel depressed and angry at being used?
If anything they're making David seem curious and open-minded, I don't see him as being easily offended.
Feeling emotions such as depression and anger at how he is being treated, especially since he's watched over these people as they were in stasis for two years whilst he pottered about the ship with probably not much to do, I could see that.
Also we have no idea why Vickers is getting physical with him in that scene. For all we know she's got mad at him for selling the humans up the river. Or not.

The viral material states that Weyland is attempting to create robots that are indistinguishable from humans, and surely one of the requirements of this would be creating robots that can portray human emotions so convincingly that no one would be able to tell the difference. The question is then: do they actually
feel offended, or do they just act on programming that tells them that they
should feel offended.
The truth is that there is
no way to tell what a person/robot is feeling based on their actions and/or body language.
This: :-[ - portrays embarrassment, but only a complete idiot would suggest that a 15x15 GIF image actually felt embarrassed. Now imagine that you asked a computer program how it was feeling and it posted this: :( - your immediate emotional reaction would be 'holy shit, the program is sad!', and you would have a hard time shaking that idea, even if the program in question just posted a random emoticon each time you asked it a question.
Fight for robots rights, before they do. ;D

I took that to read that the space suit design (and it does have a Giger quality) will indeed turn out to be the physical template for the xeno i.e. fused human/space suit and jockey = xeno???
I'm still reserving judgement, but - I'm worried. Giant blue bald guy in a space tapir helmet. Is that really going to fly?

FWIW, there's an excellent science fiction book which deals with the invention of a wormhole camera, that let's you see anything in any place and any time. At the end they look back into the early Earth's history and find another inteliigent species that was wiped out in an impact event.
I can't remember the title. I believe Arthur C. Clarke co-authored it with a lesser known writer.
