Today is the 79th birthday of Sir Ridley Scott and 20th Century Fox is celebrating with a brand new production still of the man himself on the set of Alien: Covenant!
Released via the various Alien social media platforms, this new production still is captioned “And a new kind of horror was born. Happy Birthday, Ridley Scott. ” and shows Ridley on the Orrey/Pilot’s Chamber set.
20th Century Fox celebrates Sir Ridley Scott’s birthday with new Alien: Covenant production still!
We previously saw this location in the pictures leaked by So Is It Any Good back in October. One of the pictures showed the Pilot’s Chamber lit in a similar fashion. Those pictures have since been removed from the website but are available online through Google.

Nice :o!! Finally some new stuff, thanks Hicks!! 8)
I can't wait for a trailer. Everything shown and discussed about Covenant so far sounds brilliant.
That new pilot chamber is strange... it looks
like there is only one hibernation pod... :) ;)
Correct me if I m wrong.
And yes, I checked the leaked photo also.
Definitely from Covenant.
Spoiler

Hard to really see from this angle but it looks like we have one straight to our left and one further away on the right side.
Food for thought but wasn't the chamber lit in a blue fashion in Prometheus when we see the holograms? Perhaps we'll be seeing more holographic recordings?

The chair looks empty to me. :-\
Seems safe to assume this is the ship(in the pic) David and Shaw left LV-223 in, right? Wonder how it'll feature in the movie. Perhaps the Covenant crew stumble across it before finding David.

Look at left on the pic, behind the chair, we distinguish an engineer ! Don't think ??
One can only hope this film is a smash success, maybe with that Fox finally understand that we don't need Ripley on the franchise again, NEW CHARACTERS A FRESH STORY, is what this movies need.
I'll never get tired of seeing that chair in anything. ;D
Happy birthday Sir Ridley, and thanks for all the great movies you've made over a long and illustrious career!

The lighting looks much better than from what I remember in Prometheus. Much more spooky. Wonder if it will look like that in the final film.
Oh, and happy birthday, Ridley. Hope you're around for many more.
Looks like an Engineer. By the way, I love those lights and colours.
For those who distinguished the differences between the Space Jockey chair and the Engineer prop, what do you all make of estimating this one? Closer to the derelict chair dimensions and design or the more recent Juggernaut version?

Despite dimensions, I thought that derelict and juggernaut cockpits are the same.
The one from the new picture looks like the one from Prometheus.

And this meatsack? looks like a green overall and black pilot breathing thing on his chest and a white head that looks melted or mutilated.
Maybe it's camera man. They are taking a shot. Scott is conducting :)

One and the same, probably the same Cinema 4D model used from Prometheus as well.

The juggernaut's pilot chamber is circular, the derelict's one isn't.
Are there two people in that blown-up frame? One standing in the background?
The person lying down looks like someone wearing a Prometheus spacesuit...

Its possible its old Weyland, but they all got rumbled around the ship when it role after Vickers,
so i would rule out a Prometheus crew member.

That ship was totaled. Shaw and David left in another one.

Then i think its a Covenant crew member, because the arm has a more fluffy suit and the Prometheus suit was "slim fit"
Looks like they're taking cover.
My initial reaction was to see the two figures as David crouched in front of an Engineer. Could be anything though.
I made a quick comparison with the Space Jockey's from Alien (1979) and Prometheus:

That could be anyone. Maybe the janitors are mopping up after someone literally shat themselves silly from all of the horror on set.
Also hasn't anyone wondered what that brownish glowing matter is that seems to power the control system. It's sort of like brain material or something.

What it is below? It's just a spotlight with white light. Look to the right of Ridley, or above his elbow.

Yea the stuff right below his elbow, it fires up during Prometheus. It just screams brain matter to me. :P
So Ridley is still going with the engineers, although this is just a still.
It could be in anything, flashback, hologram.
But we can conclude with this picture its a different engineer ship by looking at the compared pictures above,
the body next to the chair is humanoid (in my opinion) and there is a engineer behind the chair.
Ok trailer time :)
That looks amazing. I also took notice of that Engineer behind the chair and the weird crouching humanoid.
Happy birthday Ridley Scott, may you make many more amazing films!
Was the 'control panel' always illuminated like that?
Liking the new image. Cool that we'll be seeing that stuff again.
Do not you think it's strange that the Space Jockey room in Covenant reappears? It is a very big and expensive scenario, so it has to be of great importance in the film. I hope they do not abuse him too much and take away the charm, because you remember that if they want to link the prequels with the movie of 79, it has to appear once more.
A Juggernaut re-appearing is not surprising, it could be presented quite differently in the context of the film than what we see in the production still, lighting wise it looks a little darker than the final engineer's Juggernaut was in Prometheus.
The Juggernaut appearing in 'PROMETHEUS' is trashed. It's history. Finished. Fubar... It was knocked outta commission by the Prometheus collision. It's lying on the ground, useless now; to become Derelict no.2, if anything. I don't think we'll be seeing it again.
Shaw and David depart LV-223 in a completely different vehicle. It's highly likely this is the pilot chamber from their escape vehicle and not the Juggernaut.
Oh, and Happy Birthday Riddles. You da Man.

*A Juggernaut.

lol I'm granting that it's most likely the Juggernaut that Shaw and David flew off in, just saying
lighting wise this cockpit in the still looks darker than how the cockpit was lit in the final Engineer's Juggernaut lol
I'd think if was some other craft - an escape craft, like Winde mentioned - it'd be scaled down a bit. They had to build it from scratch again anyway so there'd be little point in making it the same size if the ship it was supposed to be in was smaller.
It would make a lot of sense that the ship they arrive in would be part of the story. If for no other reason David is capable of piloting it, which means in my mind it needs to be taken out of commission. The fact he had the ability to leave the planet and return to Earth at any point needs to be addressed.
This looks much darker and eerie. Loving the concept a lot.

Yeah, exactly. I'm sure they'd be an expectation to see something like that addressed in the narrative.

Maybe he simply didn't want to leave?
Maybe he's been having too much fun.
Yeah David admired the engineers, "a superior species, no doubt.", I don't think he'd want to go back to earth at all once he gets to paradise.

This whole storyline reminds me of Rimmerworld from Red Dwarf.
