Title: Augusto Aguilera Joins The Predator Cast
Post by: Corporal Hicks on Mar 05, 2017, 06:10:33 PM

Augusto Aguilera joins The Predator cast. According to their latest casting exclusive for The Predator, Deadline is reporting that Augusto Aguilera has joined the cast as the final main character.

“Augusto Aguilera has landed the final main role in 20th Century Fox's reboot The Predator, which Shane Black is directing from a script he co-wrote with Fred Dekker. Production began last month and Fox has already staked out a February 9, 2018 release date.”

Augusto Aguilera joins The Predator cast.

Augusto is best known for his role as Kieran in Chasing Life. He has also recently appeared Citizen, Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders and Ice.

In other The Predator casting news, Thomas Jane – who was previously reported to be in negotiations to appear in The Predator – has confirmed in an podcast with SyFy. The podcast is about Jane’s role in The Expanse (beware spoilers!) but at about 01:30. Thanks to ace3g for picking up on this one.

"Reboot."

I can hear all the cringes from our community.

Anyhow, I don't recognise him but he does seem like a cool fellow. I look forward to seeing what he adds to the film.

You really have a proper thing against these tall people!

I don't recognize him myself either but we'll see. As always, as long as he's talented I don't care if I've heard of him a not.

Why say "in a forced way"? Were you in the meeting about this casting?

Was Richard Chavez a forced casting in Predator? Damien Buchir and Callie Hernandez in Covenant? John Ortiz in AVPR?

Should all characters be white and any deviation from that is a purposeful scheme? No reason a person can just be hispanic and in a movie unless they make themselves useful in checking a box, eh?

It was a lot more natural in that situation (a team of war veterans on a mission in Central America). In this situation, it seems a lot forced.

Richard Chavez, Bill Duke, Carl Weathers and Sonny Landham were allowed to be people of color in a film because they played war veterans? Otherwise characters should just be white? What kind of logic is that?

Also, many Hispanic people exist outside of Central America.

Still zero evidence the casting was forced, Keith. Unless you were in the meeting when they discussed Aguilera's casting?

Riiiiiiight. Way to cite Yvonne and Alfie to throw the scent off of what you were really thinking(Trevante, Sterling, Keegan-Michael and Augusto being the examples of "diverse casting".)

How come you don't consider Boyd Holbrook an example of forced diversity?

How is Strahovski forced diversity? Should a Caucasian male play her role? And you didn't say any of them were forced casting when they were cast, only Aguilera's casting prompted that claim.

You don't have to force diversity if society is diverse in the first place. Unless Aguilera is playing a neo Nazi or something? Is that the case?

So your opinion is that there should be less than 5 people of color in this movie because it's a Predator film?

What ethnicity would you have liked Aguilera's character? What about his character gives you reason to think he should not be hispanic?

Who would you have cast in Yvonne's role?

It's not simply ethnic diversity, but diversity in general. Like they have a checklist:

- kid
- white dude
- black dudes
- hot blonde
- hot brunette
- British guy
- Hispanic dude
- all in the hipster variety

What happened to all the big, tough, foul-mouthed macho dudes?

There are all kinds of people in real life. Men, women, kids, blondes, Hispanics, etc.

And how do you know we won't be getting tough, foul-mouthed macho dudes? Which ethnicity is only allowed to play macho dudes?

You think they should have cast big tough macho dudes to play the role of a kid, a kid's mom, and a scientist? I think Shane cast correctly for the film he's making.

You see hipsters dressed like mercenaries in real life? A hipster is identified through fashion, not through physique, so I'm not understanding your hipster claim.

So your issue isn't that Aguilera is hispanic then? Your issue is that the cast is made of up people that are not only brunette and blonde, but also hispanic and British? That's an issue to you? What about their characters suggests they shouldn't be blonde, brunette, black, British, hispanic, etc?

And it seems rather like an uninformed opinion. As has been pointed out to you, the Predator films have a deal deal of diversity among their cast. Same as there's a great deal of diversity in the real world. There's zero evidence to say this is forced.

It seems more like a case of complaining for the sake of complaining which seems to be a bit of a trend with yourself.

It is fact vs your invalid opinion. For any opinion to be valid and important, it needs to be informed, and I haven't seen you aspire to that.

People have an opinion that the Earth is 6,000 years old. That all cops want to kill blacks. That women who lead you on deserve to be raped. These opinions are not informed. There is no logic behind them, no foundation on which to base them. They're f**ktarded.

Your opinion that this casting is forced falls in the same line of not being informed and therefore, invalid. Sadly, the modern world has coddled everyone into thinking that they are entitled to their opinions. But being entitled to something is saying you have a right or claim to it. There is justice in you having it. And what could deprecate that concept more than someone being entitled to a chucklef**k dumb opinion?

Again, you have nothing to back up that impression. Nothing about the cast list "reeks of forced diversity." It's just a bunch of talented actors. You're just giving off the impression that you don't care for diversity so that any circumstance of it must be forced for you.
