Title: AvP PC, X360 & PS3 Demo OUT NOW

The PC demo for AvP has been just released on STEAM. You need to register on their website in order to download and play the demo. To download the demo (1214MB) click here or try the link on the picture below. See you in the battleground! If you’re not sure if you PC can handle the game, please check the system requirements out here.

AvP PC, X360 & PS3 Demo OUT NOW

To post your impressions of the demo in the forum, please use the Demo Feedback thread. You can also view the Availability thread which will be updated as soon as the demo is released on the consoles.

Update 09:53: The X-Box 360 demo has been released in the X-Box Marketplace (780MB).

Update 14:13: The demo can now be found in the European PSN store on the Playstation 3 (1138MB). The American PSN store hasn’t been updated as of yet but give it a few hours.

Update 16:50: Rebellion just made an announcement about the infamous matchmaking system issues. A patch to fix this issue will be released shortly. Check the full announcement here.

Update 22:21: The demo has finally been released in the American PSN store. An update has also been released for the PC demo to fix the matchmaking issues. The steam application automatically updates your demo if a patch is available. Rebellion are working on fixing the problems for the PS3 demo but there is no timeframe on that.

Ugh.  The demo is somewhat of a let down.  I just tried the demo and I seriously hope the retail version has dedicated servers.  I was able to get in game with a group of random people via match-making ONCE and when I spawned as a predator I couldn't walk, only jump.  A few seconds later the host dropped out.  Yay for the peer-to-peer model.    :'(    

There is no dedicated browser to find games, no indication of latency, etc.  It looks like this might be peer-to-peer.  Graphics looked decent.

I *really* hope that there are a LOT more multiplayer options in the retail version.  I'm still going to buy the game for the single player experience, but come on.

Played the Pc demo, was defiantly dark. Unfortunatly my Computer= shit so there was a A LOT of lag, really looking forward to the 360 demo

This is so depressing...seeing all you pc users play, seems to me like there's alot of connection problem. That's usually more prodiment for PC ps3 and xbox usuly don't have those problems...hope you guys are having fun that are playing. If you can get a trophy kill for me!

wow wtf... matchmaking, noone to play with, can't start a server by yourself, at least to figure out the controls.  But then again, after what I've been hearing, maybe I shouldn't play at all.  Massive expectations of fail, makes me sad.

wow this game is bad. it doesn't reward you at all for having any REAL skill

any "good" alien player just jump spams/circle strafes (combination) and there's no way to counter it

wow....this game...is horrid. This is coming from one who enjoyed the first two. I guess its fine if you havent played those before, its a decent game. But all the versatility and fun moments....gone. Its just who presses E faster to one shot ya and every hit stuns you so you cant fight back. AND ALIENS DONT HAVE POUNCE FOR GODSAKE!!!

Yeah i was guessing there was going to be creates to hide behind but you cant.. I mentioned crouch earlier on the controls forum backing up someone else who said it. For marines being visible all times etc.. it the only was they can get out of the open from being smashed by others lurcking around and to return fire instead of running around in circles why an invisible dude beems down on you then u get smashed by an alien running at you at 120kmh.. lol

Kay just played it and minus the fact that its actually frightning hearing the aliens behind you (Which defo counts as an advantage to the aliens for scaring people :O)

This game is going to be the f**king shit......so far all i hear is people bitching about this demo after playing ONE f**king map with ONE f**king match type, with only EIGHT f**king players. It's like instantly the moment the demo came out everyone was supposed to know how to work flanks and hold down positions in a map that NO ONE has ever played before! With lame ass PtP connections....

Melee system is ALOT more well rounded then i thought, not punishing and complicated. So far I've seen and alien leave a DEATHMATCH with 24 kills on top, a pred do the same with 22 and yes even a marine with 18-19.

The finishing moves are obviously what everyone is going to go for but it leaves you WIDE OPEN and you'll most likely get killed if your not careful. Save them for when you know someone's alone.

Loved the first two, been playing for an hour or longer now, every game I've came out in first place, marine, alien, and predator.  I'm not bragging, I'm just saying that It's possible to win no matter what species you are.  But the combat seems... clunky, really that's the best term.  I don't feel immersed at all, it's just press x at x time.  feels contrived and like a bad console port. doesn't play well on pc at all.  sad thing is I'm to much of a fanboy not to buy the game.

Just played 4 games, came out top as Pred and Marine in 3 but i cant play alien well it seems :(
The demo is fine if you dont rage cuz of a tiny bit of lag and the time it takes to find a game ( Which i use to make tea)

I think this game WILL kick serious ass by march end. when people learn the game and can connect with more ease than that of the demo. I like the feel of the game. the sound and graphics help immerse you in the avp universe quite well. It feels just as much like a game as it does a movie. GOD i just wish this demo knew how to search for a game and connect meh :(

Just played one game (won it playing a marine with 16 frags), and I have to say I like what I saw. I was able to play it on high details without any fps loss, that's a nice surprise.
But seriously... now I'm in a queue for more than 30 minutes, and I'm getting pretty sick of it aleady. Not releasing any dedicated servers was a huge mistake. I'm buying the game nevertheless, but I feel very let down by their attitude.

after spending a good hour playing I can say I LOVE this game already. I think I will go with the predator. ALL species are true to the movies and thats ALL i ask for. The game play is just as good if not better than avp2 (which was and always will be one of a kind). I look forward to this one. and i havent even played the game on a worthy computer yet. its like xmas in Feb Danny boi tell em

After playing for an hour with some friends in the game - WOW.  This game is amazing, even just playing deathmatch with 8  players.  Yes the wait sucks, but ignoring that, I am thoroughly impressed.

FYI the alien is hardest to stealth kill. you have to catch him in the act and time yours...assuming it wont haul ass after performing a fatality. I have so much to learn. I was the shid in avp2 now i gotta learn all over again...will be more than worth it tho. then i will smacketh down ye once again   >:D      >:D      >:D      >:D      >:D      >:D

A lot of people would rather test the game mechanics against other players. And a MP demo has more replay value and can tide you over till the game's release.

game is pure amazing so far....aliens kick ass so much thought they wouldnt be that good cuz they aitn got a pounce button but the speed makes up for it....id say they were over powered big time !!!

After one hours of playing here is what i have to say, first of i started as alien and i had some get to know issues on the attacks, once you get to know ur moving etc its pritty fun. There is something missing tough, marines cant crouch or aim down the sight (expext sniper) predators are djust really messy in pvp with the focus jump system imo. I did not for 1 secound enyoy playing marine or predator tbh. Alien is valid but i miss the pounce. Also i agree with ppl saying there is somethign missing, i was afraid the game would come with bad mp maps as the prew games did, and if this map is what rebellion wants to show of the mp section of this game is going to get boring verry quick. Also yes its a bit press E first and you win. Blocking or using ur melee skills djsut feals like hack and slach while blocking often dont seem to work. From the mp demo i can djsut say this game seems decent, i will buy it and hope the full version is better, there is something missing in this demo but i cant say what it is, it djsut gets boring verry quick :/

found a way to get the demo on xbox w/o having to go though the website.
game marketplace->Explore game content->all games->browse->A->Aliens vs Predator->All Downloads->Title->MP Demo

hope this helps anyone still having trouble. note a gold subscription will be required to play but not to download.

it plays well. unique yet comparable to CoD/Halo/ACreed
alien handles well despite what the videos seemed like. fluid, fast and deadly.
Pred is..well...fun as hell to play :) having to gather your weapons maybe a pain at first but once you learn the spawn points its cake.
Marine is like any fps shooter just feels like cannon fodder at times. they make easy targets when the lights are out lol

Wenn ihr probleme habt, dann sucht in Steamfriends nach GROUPS (Aliens vs predators join etc.) und verbindet euch mit dene. dann könnt ihr auch mit ein wenig glück spielen.

I hope the way you have to connect to servers is different in the final version, because thats just a reason to cancel my pre-order! Worst way EVER.... you cant join a group because the game is in progress so you gotta be lucky to join a group inbetween the games ... plain stupid

Yeah I'm pretty disappointed aswell. I mean the feeling is great! playing an alien is really good!! (although I miss the pounce, just to take off to somewhere, you cant do that ... only jump from surface to surface. you can also leap forward, but its just not that good)
Every box in the game is big enough so the marine can go behind it ... the marine cant duck ... he cant ... his knees wont let him! f**k its annoying, seriously!
Another point for people from Germany:
Das spiel kommt hier nicht raus und ob es sich nun so viele kaufen ist auch nicht klar. Es kann gut sein, dass es dann nur recht schlechte server (langsame verbindung) gibt.

Initial thoughts for the PC version of the Demo.

In an honest attempt to make sense of it all.

[ 3 ] Classes to choose from.

Alien.
Predator.
Marine.

Each have their own unique style and method of killing an enemy.

The game is amazing, even in the Demo stages, as with all games it'll take time for those to adjust and get used to it. You can't go in thinking everything will be 'hunky dory' at the beginning.

Note - You can customize the controls for each class, despite what some people are complaining about. As well as video, sound, so forth.

The Alien is a great killer, the nail swipe is almost instant death to a Marine and Predator.

Having played it, I give it 4/5 in review thus far.

The Predator is also a great choice, though as many have mentioned finding weapons can be a task at first. Hack and Slash has been my method. I give it 3/5 thus far.

The Marine, the back bone of humanity per se. Well, he's a bit slower, armed to the teeth and finding weapons for him is simple, however - staying alive long enough to try each weapon out isn't so easy. I give him 4/5 thus far.

Overall, it's a Demo release so relax and learn what you can from it before the actual game comes out.

As for the PS3/360 users, I am sorry, however they made the game for you guys (All I see is alot of complaining and bad mouthing of it)

Lastly, as tirelessly mentioned, it's a Demo. Not Full Game, many features, skins, and of course full Multiplayer finding, the different choice modes, etc are not available. Be happy with what we're given and be hungry for what is to follow.

Horrible console port, not much more to say, canceling pre-order. I mean they would've been better of keeping this demo a secret and going the IW style.. just building up the hype.

Just browsing through the comment section on few sites with the demo and yes people are pretty stunned by how bad it is and how they even could let a demo like this out?

Its hard to swollow, but its true! Pc gaming started to drop after somewhere around 2002-2004. Games began to decrease in complexity and started to become easier. AvP is soo promising. Why not take key elemnts from AvP, AvP2 and make a great AvP with trohpy kill animations. I already cancelled my pre-order and will never buy a game from rebellion again. Its just horrible to what they reduced AvP (on the pc - I still think its ok for consoles as consoles lack the ability to complex gaming - well except for clumsy controle mechanisms)

I thank you for sharing your brilliant point of view Tekkan but unfortunatly PC gamers are NOT the minority and are NOT the evil illegal downloading gamers. STEAM has proven to have more members than Xboxlive has Gold users.

Yes, Steam IS free which a factor and yes there are probably alot of people who don't play alot of games actively... but the numbers are still rising.

Thing where Truely is totally right about is the fact that games tend to get dumbed down more and more because their main focus is console gaming. But I must say, AvP looks promising eventhough it has some major flaws. I'll surely be getting this game.

And if you really think 'consoles' are the main platform: then buy into their bullshit and buy a console. I ain't stopping you. I'll stick with my PC and watch which games I buy.

So i was able to DL the demo on XBL this morning US central Time, i got to start up a game, waiting was a bit of a hassel but i could understand it being early in the day, very few people online, a demo that literally just got released, but i joined a game, pick up my pred like the good ol' days and read over the control scheme, and the game started, right of the bat just wanted to run around and get used to mechanics.  Sprinting felt great, i was even able to sprint, focus on jumping area and make a quick leap to get an amazing vantage point, then i come across a bug, i focus on him got in close, he hadn't noticed me yet, charged him knocked him to the ground, me being new to the controls i could have taken him out, but i was just in awe of what i just did, he sprawled back up lunged at me i blocked and countered, jumped to a vent for a better vantage point, selected my spear. Aimed. Straight thru the chest of that bug.  That is what i feel this game is about, yes i know why didnt you just stay and melee him to death, or use the finisher.  The finsher would have left me open to death by his bug buddies i didnt want to risk it.  I didnt want to just start hammering the bumper buttons because if he blocked, and countered im dead, his melee's are better than mine i have equipment i have decent speed, created some distance and got a insane kill.  The rest of the match was me being dumb enough not to look behind me and getting stealth killed, locking on the a bug with a disc, throwing me spear, and getting into the occassional melee confrontation from a bug getting the jump on me, and it being the ultimate killing machine i lost, because thats what happens in close range contact with a bug, your gonna die, and bugs are suppose to be sneaky and surprise attack at you.  Its about Tactics, knowing your species, not running up in someones face and hitting melee.  This very long ramble which i apologize for has a point, this game was amazing, you had to think, always on your toes, and whats the best way to utilitze my skills in the species to get a kill.  Dont be pissed because you can't crouch,pounce, or you cant figure out how to jump.  Adapt and survive i did, i was really late for work this morning :-D but now im so pumped to get back in there and hone my skills even more.  I'm up for the challenge to get aquainted to this new breed of AvP. Not everyone will agree, some might, but i just felt i needed to type this up to share my thoughts. After reading what made me feel that this game wasnt getting the credit it deserves by people who just need to think a little harder when in a match or be a little more patient when waiting for a match, give it time people will DL the demo and be happy to take your spear,tail,bullets in the face.  Hope those of you who haven't gotten the demo still feel excited to try it for yourselves. I hope by Feb 16th you've gotten enough training. Happy Hunting

What people DONT seem to understand is that a PC can potentially be a PS3 or 360. Its what we call emulation...OOHH and you can even buy a PS or Xbox controller and connect it to your PC...truth is PC = infinite options and console....well they NEED PC's to even get ON the internet. yea comcast runs their service through PS3's they dont need computers. nobody does. well just played it a bit more...the demo map i will say puts the marine at the worst disadvantage. aliens are hard to spot here. and if you are in the big room with the ramps pred can pick you off easy. if you are a marine stick to the halls and give them less options as to where they can attack you from...im sooo sorry to promote camping halls and corners but its all i could do. if you are the other two species you really have to try and get the drop on the others by jumping from above. alien is fast as i hoped

funny coop mode IN DEMO...i was playing as a marine. I mowed down a alien attacking a pred then ran into a four way room. i was there for a little while when i noticed a marine camping. he COULD have been shot me but he didnt. so me and him stayed in the room and racked up kills when another smart gun marine came in. we owned the match. I didnt win BUT a marine a HUMAN did. :X

I love the 360 demo, but I hope the full game has customizable controls. Doing heavy focus attacks with the predator and alien is awkward, I don't want to use my middle finger to hold down a trigger.

It's not a beta its a demo, letting a demo of this quality slip through is unbelievable. I don't have a issue paying money for games or entertainment however i have an issue with supporting developers that don't give a shit about the PC community... *Hence* InfinityWard *cough cough* and where the industry is going... casual land ->


Be my guest and say this wasn't designed for consoles? The first thing you're met by when entering the game is text optimized for people 3 meter away with a font-size of like 40...(in my case resolution is 1920x1080) i lost my hope right there..


Maybe we are the minority, but why should we stop demanding features that used to be in just about any game on the PC before 2005.


Imo i'd rather spend my money on RO2 , SoW , DCS real pc games right there .. yes

Infinity Ward clearly "said" to the PC community: f**k off, you dont belong to the MW2 scene.

And the devs already said, AVP is mainly focused on consoles, coz' there is where the "magic happens".

I just hope in time PC users will get an SDK, and we can mod AVP for our taste, and make it competitve.

on the old games avp and avp2 weren't there only so many preds or marines or aliens allowed on the map anyway?

Demo is awsome for me so far on the 360, no lag no waiting for games no problems at all i love it, controls are a little strange for me at the moment but getting used to them, so all in all enjoying the game and cant wait for the game to come out as deathmatch is probably my least favourite mode.

I hope they will adress the matchmaking issue on PS3 as well....on the other hand, it's just a demo. I got to play a few matches now and after you get into it it's really cool.... all three of the races.
However having to wait 15 mins to find one match is bad.... but still it's just a demo

I think for a lot of you guys on PS3 waiting for matches is because many of us still cannot get it. My store hasn't updated with it in. So I'm sure by the end of the day or tomorrow it'll be easier to find matches.

Let me give you a hint: Marines f'ing own. Why? Just use the fagnoob auto aim system, and use melee with pulse rifle. I can melee to the ground an alien or pred from miles away, its not even funny how a marines charges at them and punish them in the ground, and then load some bullets in their brains. Deadliest species of the universe. HAH! Only that freakin' gunfire with M41A destroy my eyes.

Xbox 360 demo is great, even though deathmatch is my least favorite mode. And it really doesnt bother me that you cant crouch, thought it would, but it doesnt. Can't wait for the official release.

Help!
"I've sat here the past hour trying to get the demo to start. What happens when I try and launch it is this:

1. Shows the normal steam "preparing to launch" dialog
2. Dialog disappears
3. Steam "Update News" window opens with a link to the AvP Store page.

Now, I'm not trying to fuss and I'm very excited to play. Does anyone have insight into what could be causing this?
 I restarted Steam as well as redownloaded the demo, still didn't fix anything."

Fairly good so far, though I despise deathmatch mode.  wish they would have at least put another mode in.  matches are quick, but there is something a bit antiquated with the gameplay.  I wish the marine could crouch, go prone besides just....stand.  Seems a bit shortsighted.  Button configs seem a little confusing too, and graphics are good, but could be better.  Animation can be stiff and silly sometimes.  Though I know this isn't the "final" build, I'm sure its pretty darn close.  I think this will score about a 7 on average.

PS3 Version is not connecting to anything at all!

There must be more then 8 people that have it on PS3 so the fact certain people or countries don't have it yet is irrelevant!

As we all call the server for a match make etc...

Anyways us console owners pay more for games so we should have more priority when it comes to sorting out the system/server issues!

All thats been mentioned is PC issues... if all is good then we'll be paying almost double the price so sort us out first! Yes PC version £19.85 - 360/PS3 £36.95 piss take so sort it out and fast! Otherwise our moneys going else where!

consoles are for poor people that cant afford a $500 to $5000 dollar pc machine that blows the mere $199 or so bs consoles out of the water.

the combat is stupid in this game. run around and stealth kill spam on players backs... sprint.. circle... spam e.. its noob as can be. at least they made predator cannon run out of ammo so u dont get nuked 24-7 like in avp2...

only gonna get this game for single player and my avp collection.. i still think games should be on an old system and not steam where if u get steam account hacked someone steals your games for free. all they have to do is download them... thats really lame and gay.

p2p dosent work for pc .you may as well invite ur friends round for a lan game cut out all the crap

this demo is based on pre-release code and does not reflect the qaulity of the final product

only directx9 features are supported in this demonstration code(some are missing due to its small download packet size and why it dosent fit 1920x1080 res correctly widescreen)it is a beta demo after all

I really, really hate how age restriction limits your download to the demo >.>... I mean I guess it's best for the multiplayer community to lower the rate of 10 year olds talking non-stop, flaming everyone because they got trophy killed. @Raven- I thought AVP1 had more of a story and awesome camera sequences such as slow motion facehuggers and the predator who wen't throughout the whole film!
AVP Requiem, I thought had an awesome beginning. The lighting was a bit to dark, but fight scenes were also awesome. It's a shame about the ending. I really wanted to see who would win out of the Predator and the Predalien!....

and @Drakolowe- It does! Bill Paxton and the marines! Out of the 4, for me Aliens is deffo the best film!


One thing to mention though that gets me. AVP is set in 2004 and Mr Wayland gets killed by the predator..... Decades later he shows up in Alien 3 as the real Mr Wayland! Oops! lol

tbh the demo  has really put me off the actual game... too buggy; doesnt really sell itself too well to me. starting to question whether its worth 30 pounds. There should almost certainly be iron sights and a crawl function

7.5 hrs to download on PC. Then 2.5 for an update.  Now Im searching for matches continously.  New to Steam(for this) so have no1 to invite.  So as yet havent played.

I tried the PC demo and it doesn't lag for me. Creating a group with one or more friends really help getting a match quickly: I don't even have to wait a minute and the lobby is already up! No disconnection problems or what so ever, so I really suggest getting a friend if you find the PC matchmaking laggy. Other than that, I am now downloading the ps3 demo to see which version is the best...

My PS3 demo is installed, occasionally while waiting 1 person will join waiting for more players, but that 1 person seems to leave after a short while. Quite annoying. Still have yet to play a game, but I, unlike those, will wait patiently until a full room is set up.

I just played the demo and I have to say
playing as the marine was just amazing I love how the he walk slowly cuz is more real, I havent played as an alien or predator yet but the game looks fantastic and I like the melee stuff , not cool for a Pc thoug but for consoles its just amazing

Cool, thanks for the update, AJMARTINecu. I used to be a Predator in AvP2, but from what I've seen from the demo on YouTube and trailers, it looks like they really neutered the Predator. I hope the PS3 demo will work correctly sometime soon so I can give it a shot.

i am not that impressed. connecting still needs years and it's actually pretty amusing that a demo needs a patch to run properly. and it still does not. should i draw conclusions from that how well the real game works? anyway, the gameplay is ok, tho somewhat sluggish compared to avp2. sometimes i don't get how to earn the trophies. sneaking up from behind and kill, ok that works fine. but some people even manage to do that in face-to-face battle where i just have my standard melee attacks. perhaps i need to play more shooters or need super fast reflexes or just throw my shoulder canon against the next alien head showing up...

In the same boat.  Was really expecting a bit more, I still wish the darn marine could crawl, crouch and look down iron sights, and I think its one of the reasons I feel like the gameplay is somewhat dated....yet its new....I think its going to get "average" reviews, nothing extraordinary.  I knew those stupid MTV style previews were hiding something...I just hope single player is atmospheric and fun.

After playing avp1 on steam this days I have to say this new game is much better, in avp 1 I cant even kill a single predator being a marine now all the species feel balance but u have to know well your character thou, great game I love how is difficult to see the alien when they are hide , I love the sound and the way how the predator looks, The melees are cool beacause u dont have to spamm the bottom you have to make a tactical fight or going stealth. I just love it   ;)    
the only thing I would like is to crouch as a marine it seems like they forgot to add that move   ;D

Very "meh" to be honest.  PS3 version is slow to hook up to a game and it's just nothing special at all.....

Quite disappointed, hope the single player is worth it because I don't want to pay for this on multiplayer.

well i played the demo on ps3 and loved it! But they really need to patch it takes forever to find a game i had to join my friends game to just play they need somethings in the game it seems so quiet playing online needs some music and needs some anti aliasing badly. also they should add crouching and iron sights that would be great :D:D:D   ;D      ;D      ;D

Runs smooth as butter graphically on my laptop with everything maxed out. I don't see what all the complaints are- I've never been a big fan of online multiplayer anyway, when I played this demo it felt like every other online match in any game- I spawn and am killed in a few seconds by someone more adept at videogames. Personally, I'm buying this game for the single-player and the Survivor Mode with bots. I prefer not to deal with "connection issues" and the annoying chatting of other gamers. For me, thus far- Pros= smooth, well-functioning graphics, easy to control, authentic sounds. Cons= a bit rough around the edges, but that will be fixed with anti-aliasing allowed in the final build...not to mention this is a beta build. Also, I have been hearing that there is no crouch function?!?! This cannot be true....at least I hope the single player final build has one...hell even the original two had it! I'm still looking forward to the game as I wasn't expecting to play multiplayer anyway (hence why I have never purchased a Call of Duty: Modern Warfare game.)

Nope, no crouch.  Seems an odd choice to remove that function....even zooming in with a weapon isn't there.  This is where the game has this "dated" feel to it.

Man, multiplayer is sick!!! XBL has no problem finding games, and i've played maybe 30 games and had lag in one of them. The controls are much better than i expected, and the races are perfectly balanced. Why is everyone shitting on the lack of crouching, you crouch behind a crate an alien is gonna jump and ram its tail up your ass.

@ cabbageheat: Think about it logically what good is crouching going to do as a gameplay mechanic against two terriflying monsters? I mean one can traverse all obstacles, and the other can move faster than you can aim and deal a shit load of damage. Crouching would offer no advantage what so ever. Besides when do you ever see a marine aim down the sites of the M41A Pulse Rifle?

The demo's still not working for me, the marketing was great at building hype over the last few weeks--to end the tension with a strictly multiplayer demo I can't play...bummer. With Valkyria Chronicles and the new old-school style Sonic I was really holding out hope for Sega.

Goddamn, some of yall act like youve never seen a demo before... or maybe you havent? This is one map out of 8 and one multiplayer mode out of 7. Maybe deathmatch isnt the best introductory mode, but for crying out loud, give it a little time before you start lambasting the developers. They probably should have gone with Infestation and Hunt for the demo,  save the alien on predator action for the release.. but oh well.

I see your point.  I guess, after playing a majority of FPS, no matter what their context, naturally, there is a crouch  and somewhat of a iron sights view.  Just felt weird, regardless, that it wasn't there or perhaps not necessary for this type of game.  Crouching and "iron sights view" just seem normal now.

Melee combat and stealth kills are good.    ;D    

No crouch?! I dont like having to pick up weapons.   >:(    

I dont think there is going to be playable facehuggers, chestbursters, predaliens, or queens.  It's what made the original games great.    :(    

Predator growl button would be really cool.   8)    

Alien playability is near perfect.   :)

Im not keen how you cant always choose who you want to be-it has to be balanced.

The combat seems too simplistic.. Sure there's the new block system, special kills, and the rock paper scissors combat, but you don't have to worry about timing or precision as much anymore. As much as I'd like to have a combistick as a melee weapon in this one, I think it'd be too good.  This game also took away specializing in weapon types for preds. There's almost no point in using ranged weapons for those who prefer range over close combat, everyone that plays pred might as well become melee preds, which makes me feel less cool. I definitely don't like the decloak during any and all attacks. Crouching although useless in this game was a useful tactic when fighting close quarters, as well as allowing you to take cover when shot at. I also miss the dismemberment and decaps upon killing someone. The game isn't what I expected.. which is what I expected...

Ive played quite a few games on the ps3, but you have to invite people/friends to get it to work. If you try and start a game on the server it takes bloody ages.

I dl the game via steam, it says 100% installed, if i try to launch the game, it appears "completing installation...0%" than appears window with incomplete installation of aliens vs predator

Any idea what goes wrong

Aliens, the film is by far the best in the Alien series. I am sure most would agree. Obviously, since it is really the only film which deals and includes the Colonial Marines. Sadly, most die near the first portion of the film. But, we get to keep Hudson, Vasquez and even Gorman (whom near the end shows balls for a change).

Predator, will always be a classic. Hands down.

Now, Predator 2 (I got to go with Peter Keyes, mainly because i'm a fan of Busey, especially in his late 80s and 90s roles)

Kevin Peter Hall is amazing.. as the Predator, period.

AvP was great.

AvP Req. was alright, could've been better.

Just my thoughts, and for those watching certain films on iPod and such, have fun ;)

The demo, being a small bite of what is to come, has me hooked.:) Tons of fun. All three species are well balanced... and I felt like I had advantages and disadvantages no matter what I played.
Although watching an alien whip by a connecting corridor when you're playing the marine is especially freaky!

Rest assured there WILL be iron-sights on the final version....I mean, they have confirmed Sniper Rifles for the marine and what good would a sniper rifle be without scope access? Also, crouching IS important for the Predator, especially if you are trying to be incognito. It just seems odd to me they would keep out crouch....this is something present in every shooter post-Doom. It's extremely odd- here's to hoping that the final single-player build has it.

Crouch will be handy, but I more plead to Rebellion to make a patch to deneuter the Predator. I don't care if it costs 1 gig on my hard drive, give the Predator its balls back. Go back and look at AvP2, a perfect game of Rock, Paper, Scissors. This game, well... the Predator is just a sneaky thing. He can sometimes do shit, but normally is a stalker.You've rendered most of the fun weapons useless and turned the Predator into a melee character. Like the f**king alien! Again, go back and look at AvP2 and fix what you did wrong. You've made and obviously beautiful game, now fix it.

I'm also considering not buying this game. My concerns lie elsewhere, though. They've placed too much an emphasis on weapons being placed in multiplayer. This does not bode well for single player (which I most look forward to). We've had plenty of time to play Modern Warefare 1 & 2, they actually give us the guns we need right away.

Why is the Predator always in melee mode in all the videos? I've seen one shoulder cannon burst total in the trailers. In the demos I've seen almost entirely melee mode, with a few discs, which went nowhere. Why did you cut our balls off?

The alien, well, you got that right.

I know the Predator seems like an unfair character, but if any of you have spent any time with AvP2, you'd understand the perfect balance and would have adjusted accordingly.

Mkk sorry to bring it up again, but the lack of crouch is annoying... this so far is just a console port for pc, no question there, its fun, but no avp1 or 2. And crouching is ALWAYS usefull, dont say its not just to protect "your" game. its retarded when a shoot out with another marine just involves walking left then right and opening fire on each other out in the open... just feels dumb... i want my tactical marine game play man... pop up shoot at pred and the crouch behind shit and hide... The lack of crouch also makes the levels far to open, they have multiple levels but they are pretty bare because they dont incorporate objects to crouch behind and be stealthy with. dont care how much you fight it, they didnt make this game very deep for experienced gamers.

The gaming market is survival of the fittest. PC gaming is dying because you have to pay alot of money, every single year, to get the same games as the Consoles, which are cheaper initially, have no upgrading required, apart from when a new console comes out.

You can pay $200 dollars for a graphics card that's going to run all of 2011's games at 60FPS per second, and $40 for each game.

I'll pay $40 for each game that runs around 40fps. Looks slightly worse, Has a more active community. And less elitist tools like yourself.

Don't get me wrong, I love PC gaming. I love how I can window the games and chat to my friends on MSN when playing WoW. But am I going to spend hundred of dollars to get AVP running on my Laptop, when I can spend $60 dollars to get it on my 360/PS3.

You give gamers a bad name with your elitist attitude and stick to your PC Gaming Circle Jerk. You can spend five hours wondering why AVP3 is running at 56fps instead of 60. I'll spend five hours having fun with the game!

Joy_ol_saint_nick gives PC gamers a good name. It's a shame the majority of PC gamers are like Tool.

You don't have to pay a lot of money every year, i'm upgrading my whole PC every 2-2,5 years. And if you are trying to run the latest games on a laptop, you my friend, are a retard. PC's are much less expensive than laptops for gaming. And on PC i'm not talking about alienware computers. The PC games are about 30-40% cheaper (the new ones), older ones ALOT. I hate FPS on console games becouse I'm a big fan of the old competitve FPS games which I played on pro level (clanbase eurocups, esl, etc), and the console needs making competitve FPS games disappearing, coz the handicapped controls on the consoles.

Ive played the demo a few hours and I say its pretty fun.  I'm sure once the full game comes out with survival modes and coop there will be much fun to be had.  I really hope we see some bigger levels tho : /    the predators strong points really don't shine on a level such as this.   Aliens are really disorienting at first but once you get used to them you'll find a delightful sense of power and dexterity, while lurking on the shadowed ceilings just above your clueless next kill.   As a human I personally love the feeling of being defenseless, (although in this particular death-match demo it wasn't so much as so)   I like being stalked and feeling amazed when I finally bring down an alien charging foreword. with only my last bullet. I didn't mind not being able to crouch, and on some guns like the rifle you can in fact zoom in.. I just hope they tune it more like this in the full game. honestly the demos now is just a free for all which moves way to fast to have you feeling anxious and tense. hopefully in alien vs human matches things slow down a bit, have some more stealth stalking. more fear.   I'm sure the single player will be great, and if they pull the right chords the multiplayer could be more then a shoot-em up fps.   (imagine if predators could actually hang the body's of other players from trees and in doorways.)    So thats all Ive got.  I hope they fix the ps3 connection issue soon.    8)

Ok so far this has been pretty shit tbh... They have completly f**ked up on the multiplayer "find games and play" aspect... I want to choose a server, not wait for a random one which sometimes takes ages. and sometime doesnt happen?.... Hopefully they will change this. you should not have to wait and hope,, instead, look at a server list and choose. Apart from this issue it is great though!!!  Oh, there seems to be an issue with microphones, when waiting in the lobby all i hear is people mic's buzzing and mkaing horrible noises, always. Just hope they change these problems for the final release! I dont like the fact that you can't crouch, every FPS you can crouch, why not this? Crouching gives you the sense of being a little more defensive and safe, even if you are not! Just something that should be in the game imo. I know its just the demo, and its just one map, and there will be lots more fun and better maps/modes to play, but so far im 90% happy with the game itself. But as for the multiplayer issues, im 50/50 on that.

Also, im not keen on the alien hiding in dark areas aspect, when you play the alien, and hide in a shadow, or dark area, from your perspective the whole area is light, as if you have a light/halo around you lighting everything up. That for me ruins the whole "being sly and stalking your prey aspect. If you hide in the dark, it is dark! I feel it just kind off takes away the mind set of playing the alien. I dunno, maybe im comparing this too much to the originals?

Im not a console gamer so im not sure wether there is enough buttons to crouch or not? if thats what u mean.
as for the dark, i just feel it would be a better atmophere when playing the alien if the dark hiding places were actualy dark when your sat in them. suppose its nothing major but just my opinion, I actualy really liked the Alien vision in the previous titles aswell. Full game is surely gonna be awsome though   ;D

As long as were all happy with the platforms we chose play it on I can't see any point in slagging of other peoples choices,  I played game after game on xbox live last nite and thought it was great, but the last thing on my mind was  would it be better on pc or ps3.
Alien control is wierd but by the time I finished it was a blast too,

For all you bitchin about the demo.  Here's one thing the game offers over other fps's.  dying doesn't **** me the hell of where I have the urge to rage quit and throw my controller through my HDTV.


this game is fun, pure and simple, the more I play it, the more fun I am having.   The graphics are perfectly fine by today's standars and far superior to the avp's of old.  the game is very well balanced.  something IW definatly needs to take a few lessons from.  


Those of you who hate it because the alien doesn't have the old pounce that it used to.  maybe if you played the game for longer than 5 minutes you would find that it does.  Focus +  targeted enemy + jump = new pounce and it works wonders.


Also alien players remember to take out the lights, any and everyone that you see.


This game is awesome.  whoever said this game won't improve in the 2 weeks before release.  you have to remember this is a e3 build. so your right it won't it will improve by Months.  so get a clue.


Pure and simple this game is fun and addicting.  I give it a 9.5 out of 10.  It's the most fun i've had on a console shooter where I don't care if I win or lose or how often I die. im just having to much fun playing it.   and no I don't suck.  I've been finishing top 3 90% of the time.

Graphics are garbage.  Melee needs work and when will games stop making a jump button!  ducking or kneeling is something that is needed.  NO ONE JUMPS!

Modern Warfare 2 is the biggest console garbage. It's a mindless game and people who play it 'seriously' are pretty damn sad. Bad Company 2 is a 'worthy' FPS on all platforms and isn't dumbed down to suit 12 year olds and/or to give them a chance at winning by mindless spraying and such.

Aliens Versus Predator has just a steep learning curve. And I must say it's pretty damn laggy on PC. For some reason, eventhough I have stable and good FPS, people can counter my HEAVY melee attacks with anything. Heck, even a marine survives heavy 'focus' attacks or normal 'heavy' attacks. It's f**king ridiculous. And eventhough the trophy kills/stealth kills are awesome, they're a great way to get yourself killed aswel.

Also predator has been put down to the same level as alien imho. Predator has been transformed from a primarily 'ranged' fighter to a primarily 'CQC/Melee' fighter.

I used to like the fact that you had your speargun/combistick in your hands. Now you can use them 'right away' or 'combined' in a way.

The demo really dissapoints

beautiful graphics followed by shitty shitty shitty control system and build-in lag.
Playing alien is no brainer, stealth kills from 20 meters,
stupid focus mode to dumb the combat even more, so you dont have to aim anymore.
Pulse rifle bullets have a lag before they arrive to the targed so you have to compensate to your aim to hit anything plus the muzzle flash that blinds you and you cant see shit.
I wont even tell how awkward playing the predator is.Its useless, clearly this game was made for consoles and not for PC.

But its just a demo, clearly a direct port from console to PC. Thats why its so shitty. Releasing it was a huge mistake.

Btw, lag is a relative issue. I joined a match on the pc last night that was very fast paced, no lag, and everything I did happened when I did it. Today I joined a match and had to type E several times to pick up things and my attacks were notably lagged. Consider some game servers where you join and your ping is single digits, you are godlike, and then others you have 200-300 ping, does that automatically make the game itself garbage? The demo doesn't give us a choice of servers right now, unless you host it. And for the record, I like that you can actually battle it out vs sitting on a wall doing the swipeswipswipe crap that aliens did in avp2 game. And you are judging the range capability of the pred using the only map you've seen in demo?? Come on. The one map is mostly tunnels with a central room, so yah, it's limited in range b/c of the map, not the pred's weaponry, and it's deathmatch where you have to look in seven directions. Range is a luxury on that map, but it is doable.

Ok, the mic thing needs to be fixed so we can individually mute people. I'm already afraid of the alien breathing, I don't need to be scared whether or not your breathing means you are about to have a heart attack on your end...:P Oh also, someone was quipping about aliens blocking. Remember the first Alien movie, when the engineer rushed it, and the alien whipped around to defend itself? Yes, they blocked from the beginning.

monolith and sierra need to make avp4... their avp2 and expansion primal hunt with pred alien are still the best avp games. nothing can touch them game play wise. only graphically.. valve / steam took over sierra so thats the only reason this avp3 crap is on crap steam.

In old avp I remember super jumping as pred, looking down as two face huggers crisscrossed under me and taking multiple marine fire from the balconies! Of course i was the "disc whore" but hey, thats the game u chose to play. If u want to cornhole someone, dont do it out in the open. Fight the battle where u have advantage.

I've never played AvP1, but so far AvP2 is my favorite FPS and probably my favorite game.. but then there's kotor... and DoW... hmmm... AvP2 is one of my favorite games.. ya, that sounds better.

lolz kid avp3 sucks so much preds rush for weapons and camp near the recharger and spam shoulder cannon - recharge - shoulder cannon - rinse repeat..

marines rush the auto targeting spam gun and last night i joined a hacker server that had praetorians runnin around (queen looking). so yea some lame dumb f**kin game right there.

if your vid card temp sky rockets then get an ati hd 5800 series and get windows 7 for direct x 11 kid. more fans or water cooling system.

wannabe pc pro gamers with shit computers... and they call them selves gamers... how the f**k can u game or host when you have 28.8k modem and shit processor with some pos vid card... sigh.

also the game only allows like 2 preds per game as i'm experiencing... which is lame so anyone that spawns in game lobby with it practically owns the player slot.

most games i've seen its 2 pred, 3 marine, 3 alien... sometimes 4... really retarded.. should of made the game team death match and 2 of everything. or 5vs5... dumb demo and melee combat killer instinct crap with com-com-combo breakers.. pfft avp2 i'll eat your face with pred alien.

Vull, grow up.  The game runs fine on a mediocre system.  Runs awesome on my home system.  Also, you know you can disable the recharge station as alien right?  And as for humans camping the smart gun...  Get there first.  Or be patient and wait for a cocky moron to distract them.  Be smarter than the game.

I've been hopping onto the demo frequently. I've been having a blast. If you're having trouble finding a group to play with on PC, join the AvPGalaxy Steam group; buncha great guys always looking for a game there. Real easy to get in one.

Been playing since AvP '99, when they had the red box.   :D    Loved it to death. AvP2 was even better for me. Basically the same game but better graphics, more weapons, and the ability to play as every alien type. Sweet jeebs, that was great. Gonna try and beat the campaigns again before Feb 16th.

AvP3, been playing it sporadically inbetween work. Actually, struggling to get work done against playing it!   ::)   Yea, not workin' too well.

I can see some of the elements that may seem consolized by some of the PC crowd, but to me it doesn't detract from the PC gameplay. However, the melee system in this game is quite incredible. If you're having trouble with it, I HIGHLY recommend watching that Close Combat Techniques video that's posted on the front page there. It'll help tremendously!

@Vull
If you were having trouble with the predators using their shoulder cannons, what you'll wanna do is let them waste their energy by dodging them, go on the evasive. The shoulder cannon can't home, and it fires a bit slow. If you have room to maneuver, it can be easily outmaneuvered. Also, when they go to recharge their energy they're completely vulnerable for a good 3 seconds, which is a LONG time to be vulnerable in this game. Backstab the bastard when he's doing this!   >:D  

Oh, and try to ease off a little on the console crowd! Us PC blokes aren't any more important than the console kids.   ;)  

From what I've been playing, this game takes quite a bit of skill to actually come out on top. You can't just zerg guys as an alien, and thank god the stagger on the pulse rifle is gone. Plus, you actually have to time your plasmacaster shots or stun your target before you fire. And the melee system, my lord, easy to learn, important to master.

This game is great so far, and reports are saying this is only the E3 demo from months back. I can't wait til Feb 16th!

Why people complaining about this game? I find it kinda retarded.   ???      I liked AVP 2 but that game isn't fun anymore, preds just stands in the corner and get cheap shots with plasma canon and ALien just use lunge to get kills. Wristblade was almost useless because of combistick and marines ain't that fun to play either in avp2.
  ???    Why is Vull complaining about the gamplay? Its a refreshing sight afetr playing so much COD and TF2. Honestly im already tired of the FPS genre there isn;t anything new and MW2 is just plain extortion.

Anyone that says computer/console is better is a fanboy and sounds like either a 30 year old in his moms basement or a 10 year old you guys grow up. But on a note about the actual demo, anyone who says any species sucks just sucks... i can get first with every species with ease. People just dont take the time to learn the curve and the controls, each species is balanced against the other very well and each has the same chances of winning as the other.

After playing this i really dont see the need for crouch .. no time to. Gameplay is great and multiple trophy kills are awsome, dedicated servers would be a big one as at alot of crucial times it lags, graphics are pretty good for dx9, cant wait to see it in DX11. won with all three species, takes some time adjusting but over all i think its a great game. i played all avp games, even the psp games and amiga "OLD SCHOOL!!" and still have one LOL.. cant wait to get my hunter edition! been playing it nearly evey time i get .. I think it would be good if i could use my G9 mouse to adjust sensitivity. im pretty happy with the game besides the fact no ded servers yet and hopefully will in the full version...If anyone wants to add me on steam my ID is sinest and im on the avp galaxy group..

awesome console-to-pc port with mediocre controls lacking complexity in gameplay and skill. you get a game with auto-aim, auto-jump... maybe they will also include auto-walk-the-right-way and auto-shoot-every-one so you will only have to start the game. And even for that, maybe the hunter's edition has an auto-start-console/pc by movement/voice device. how awesome!

About the Demo:
It's better then I expected. In the old avp2 i never had any rivals because in that game, the best player was the guy with the best aim(and that was always me). But in this Demo, I realized that here, to win a fight, you just need to press the right button at the right time, witch makes all the players equal.
I just hope there will be a lot of MP maps, because its the arena type of  MP.

Im not pleased with the aliens shinny skin and 30 foot tail.  And doesnt that hurt that the aliens fingers bend backwards when they free fall?  What are they like Mr.Burns when he dries his hands in that vent from bowling his hands flap in the breeze?

Still waiting for the ps3 fix, but still getting lots of action on PC, I think it's well fun. The map however gets the most advantage if you're an alien due to the darkness. Am looking forward to getting my hunter edition :D

To some people. Do remember when you load the demo it does say "demo does not reflect final product". If you don't like the demo, then don't play it :)

Controls in the demo are (can be) f**ked up. I set up s as forward and mouse2. Forward does then not work, and the shotgun fires on mouse2 even though fire and alt-fire are mouse1 and mouse3.

I'm really dissapointed so far.

Anyone who complains about this demo (which is about 85% off these posts) must suck at this game and never gave it another try. Sure it was harder then the average shooter at first, but once you get the block paper sissiors concept down this game is a blast. I imagine most of you wont get over yourself though so...... Some fan you are. :/

If you have PSN friends you might be able to play with them. I played all last night with two of my buddies. It would always put us in a three way battle because it couldn't find anyone else. LOL.

the xbox version is great, there are no problems, even some times i end up playing with one other person as i think the res may of left. which is great. you have to remember this is the demo! and this play does not reflect the actual game play.

I just read the game informer review and was so crappy, this game is awesome, It has a lot of replay come on! 8 multiplayer modes. traying to master each species,
the one who made that review is an asshole he should go play mw2 , alien vs predator is for real gamers... the alien is great the predator is great and the marine is awesome
enviroment is great sound great!! I dont see anything wrong in this game...... but is more a console game than a pc game , (controller based) the melee system is just perfect , you just have to be quick and smart , try to block and let the other one hit you with a light attack , I dont see how this game could be better

This game is great and i enjoy the demo very much. the only thing that is bs is the wait times but that is going to be fixed so im not to worried. I also think the gameinformer review is total f**king bullshit. that ben reeves seems like an idiot and has no solid evidence on why he reviewed it that way plus he doesnt ever consider any multiplayer modes. The only thing i could beleive was the AI not being great. I love the game the only thing that i can complain about is the variety in weapons on the marines and predator side. plus the melee mixed with a fps is totally new and refreshing i havent played a console game where u have a light and heavy attack, block, and counter and have the abillity to shoot. plus with the focus mode it makes the more agile spieces close the gap quicker to do a strike. One last thought to those of you who think the plasma caster on the predator is cheap are very dumb. you have to be in the specific vision mode to lock on which gives an opportunity for another speices to strike from behind or infornt....very hard to see an alien in thermal mode. very blanced game and i look forward to playing the full version on the 16th

AvP PC demo doesnt work for me.  Downloaded alright and I got all the right specs for the game, including 10mb broadband.  It takes about 10 mins to load (summit not right there anyway), the screen goes eventually blank and a female voice announces "Ready to play Death Match" (summit like that), then the game says my connection has TIMED OUT.  Am I the only one with this problem???

When I first played this demo as I marine, I really thought I was gonna freak out with all the detections in my motion tracker... so much suspense and tension.... As a Predator, I really like the new visions with the heart beat sound effect that makes it tense... and I really like the proximity mines being used well to destroy others..... The alien was always difficult to control and really takes time to master... I really envied those players that can gracefully maneuver the xenos.... I played AVP1 and AVP2.... its really great and im glad i pre ordered the game... for the blocking system... its a new challenge for gamers to master...   :)

The deathmatch mode with a timelimit is absolutely unbalanced. There is no reason to be a predator, or behave like a predator... lurking somewhere, cloaked and then jump on your prey when everybody is running around trying to score as many kills as possible. The game needs to slow the f* down! Anyway... after left 4 dead... running around in a small maze, trying to kill people as quickly as you can couldnt feel more dated.

However technically there is a little to complain about and I think Rebellion has done a great job!

ok, has anyone noticed that unless you have an awsome connection melle combat is a fail?   :'(    i mean, like every second in a fight counts so when you data is going slow you cant process attacks and counters fast enough to surive.ex: a person starts chargin a heavy attack, i send out a light attack, but because the data is to slow, the counter dosent kick in fast enough and i end up taking the blow even though i contered correctly. so i end up having to avoid mele combat because people with better connection always beat me   >:(    .its the same for the block counter, or just plain attack, the damage anymation of the other player getting hurt comes in likt 3 seconds after i hit him, and i perform stealth kill 5 sec after i grabbed him, he light teleports back to me!   >:(    so as good an idea it is, with out awsome internet you are screwed.

Haha lol, every 20 minutes I got tons and tons of  invites to join a game avp on my PS3....... To many to handle guys;) Hope they fix that bug so matchmaking will be easy for everybody!!

But first when I did played it, it really suckt for me....indeed deathmatch is that you kill everything but yourself haha, but everybody was running crazy.....you couldn't control the feeling (as a Marien), I wanted to be scared, watching left, right, WITH my team mates, not killing them!!!........ but THEN there some smart people joint species:D:D !!!! And that was the moment I started to really like it..... All mariens joint up, aliens or predator to, so you had some sort of team deathmatch (fun!!) Every species was hunting...backing each other up.....one looking up, other left etc. That was great   ;D    

Although I still sucked as a marien in thoose black narrow corridors hahaha....
Call me stupid or crazy, but DM is fun for 5 minutes in only 1 map......indeed great for being an alien...dark, narrow etc..... But I'm really looking forward for a team DM and other maps to work as a team of species! For me, that's where the strong point lays in this game.....than you have an advantage over one species, no matter which one you choose. It's fun to play together....

Rest my case and I'm buying it first day it comes out:D
Want to make a fine group of team mates to kill some meat hiaaaaaa;)

The predator smart disc is MAJOR OWNAGE in this game.  All species are very well balanced.  The pulse rifle also rapes but seriously the shotgun is a MAJOR FAIL....
why take four super slow shots while you can take a million with the pulse rifle in the same time?!!  GAME IS F***ING AWESOME

YAY! Actually played 3 matches on the ps3 so far, Love the demo. I think the hardest to be was a marine vs predator! Aliens are awesome though

I dont like the fact that aliens can see humans etc, through walls. and the outlines of the playes through walls takes away the scare factor. No crouch = fail. Aliens hide in the dark, but the dark area is lit up for the alien = takes away the hunt, stalk mindset of playin the alien = fail.

Apart from these big let downs the full game is gonna be AWSOME and the other multiplayer modes should be a lot funner. Just wish they would stop making games for mass audiance and Pc/consoles as it tames down the whole game for noobs.

Playing as alien is not supposed to be scary.  You are the one causing the fear.  What your saying makes no sense.
Having  no crouch is so stupid yet we have jump for humans and predators when crouching is much more used and usefull (keep predator leap of course)
Also aliens being able to block is retiredly stupid

Graphics look garbage on consoles vs computer.  I might have to buy a video card so I can enjoy this now.  Pissing me off.

All im saying is that when you hide in a dark area, it should be dark, not lit up with some weird vision thing, or wierd light/halo that seems to be around the Alien, you want to feel like you are hidden, but you dont when playing the alien. Give the old alien vision back and take away the stupid symbol that says if your in a dark place or not. imo, they have really ruined this aspect of playing the Alien.

Any ye, No Crouch = BIG MISTAKE.. sigh..  Why even bother having jump as so far it servers no purpose, remove jump and add crouch if anything, or just have both like "normal" FPS

What is with all this talk about crouching? How will crouching help you fight Aliens or Predators? All crouching will help you do is sit in a corner crying, this isn't MW2, it won't give you an advantage, it will just slow your movement and speed up your inevitable death, @Spoon if aliens couldn't block they would just get punched to death by the marine or stabbed by the Predator

Every since FPS games exists (from quake), there was crouch. Taking away cruching is another step dumbing down FPS to console level. But I must agree, crouching wont help you in this game

It's damn bugged for everyone, BTW i's been for 3 days now and seens they dont't give a shit to patch it on PS3. The PC version had the same exact problem and they solved it at most in 1 day. Just waiting, but it's disgusting since the full version has 1 week to go.

Ye your missing the point, from the aliens point of view, the dark area you stand in, is not dark because of this stupid light alien vision which lights up the dark areas. So when your hiding in  a dark area, it does not look dark to you. It completly takes away the feeling of hiding and stalking your prey, it makes you feel exposed (so what if your not, it still takes away the feeling)

This game is so sweet
Graphics maxed,brightness low and dark room its so intense
Played as a Predator vs 2Aliens it was so much fun! you can hear aliens making sounds but not sure where and then you see a glimpse of a alien running in the wall   :D    you try to shoot them with a plasma caster, jump around and smack em. I must say this game is gonna be so cool with DX11.

1-Graphics v.good
2-Sounds&visuals/huds spot on
3-Shame you cant use the spear as a melee weapon
4-Once you have weapons I think the Preador is the best class
5-The pulse rifle has too much kickback-hard to keep aim
6-Spawing flawed.  Need to be invincible for 5secs, not be eaten while youre standing there wating to move!
7-Wish the recarde points were more discreet
8-Defo needs option of more than 2 preds at a time
9-LAG major problem. Cant kill as Alien, grab as anyone &marine tracker useless.
10-LAG issue-Aliens moving at warp speed. Unbeatable.
11-Wondered in single player if you'll get double shoulder cannons...?   8)    
12-smaller 3/4 player matches ace
13-Is the marine skin the HEAD DEVELOPER from all the video interviews?  Bald,ginger, green t-shirt

Really looking forward to full game

Alien get punched to death by human....Humans cant harm aliens with a punch.  It would hurt us more because of their endoskeleton.  Aliens are stupid killing machines they do not block.  Aliens don't fear anything that they would need to block anything.  Even worse aliens blocking preds gauntlets?   what will that do?  Doesnt make sense.  As I said a while ago they should have given the alien a dodge button if anything not a lame ass human style blocking which changes the whole outlook on how aliens behave.

Best kill someone got on me is one time I played as a Marine and I was chasing down a dude that was a pred. He cloaked and went around a corner and I followed him with guns blazing. Somehow as I went around the corner I missed seeing his cloaked image because he managed to sneak up behind me and trophy kill me. I was impressed. :P

i loved the demo, cant wait to get my hands on the full game, one thing that bothers me though is that the pred decloaks too easily, for every lil thing he does, i mean using wrist blades decloaks you ? seriously, i know they made it that way for balance sake, but i think thats going too far, i dont like to recloak every time i impale someone

Played the demo - was very impressed. The species are very well balanced sadly at the cost of common sense. The Pred has about 4-5 shots with the Shoulder Canon. Not much of a self-sufficient hunter if you need human tech to recharge your battery. Why does everything has to decloak the Pred? Stealth kills for instance? or melee combat? Good thing he doesn't need energy for cloaking. Pusle rifle needs work. It's only worth shooting when the target is pretty much in front of you. Shotgun - I'm not sure it that even works in the demo. Smartgun - ownage. Sniper rifle - lags prevented me from hitting anything. Flamer - you're better off with bare fists. As the alien I found the best tactic is to sprint, find the target and rush from behind for a stealth kill. MP needs some work for in the grab department. Also, the instance you grab someone from behind it's an instant kill, the animation is just there for the gore. Sucks that you can't shoot the alien that grabbed your mate to save him before the alien puts his tail through. HP in the form of a bar without numbers is not the best idea. You die pretty fast regardless of the hud display but I prefer to see 0-100 HP.

lol i hate getting the stealth kill as an alien or predator just to have my animation cut short by someone stealth killing me, but i love the feeling i get when im running around just to get cut short as you are grabbed by a alien, its the feeling in the pit of my stomache as you see the alien about to mash you up and theres nothing you can do about it lol.   >:D      >:D

@Alien, seriously, I do hope you are able to think for yourself and not listen to a magazine that gets paid to bash products. What they consider bad you might think makes the game good. I've seen some games get bad reviews and I had a great time playing them, before and after their article. But no matter what, you make it your choice, not some douche who gets paid for his opinion.

I have been looking forward to this game for a long time, now I have downloaded and played the 360 demo here goes my thoughts.

Bad points:

I would prefer a single player game as demo rather than multi.

Map was far from great and way way to dark.

spawning was unfair.

Good points:

Great sound.

Graphics pretty good

playing as the marine is great and edge of the seat stuff.

Apart from that I will buy the game and if it's as good as the PC AvP 2 then I will be happy   :)

I think the multiplayer has the re-playability until we get the real deal. I just love sneaking up on people and predators and then stealth kill- the only bad thing I have to say is when you get killed by a predator and his blades are through your stomach- why is there no blood on them!

Why are poeple complaining about crouching? I mean does it help? I would not mind that feature but it doesn't seem to serve a purpose in this game to me. You will most likely spend the time running for you life then crouching at all. i just love pwneding the nubs in MP, they run around thinking it MW2 before i rape them 10 times over then they rage out.hahaha

Crouching = smaller target.
Feels like I'm playing quake 1 without crouching.  Crouching is for more useful then jumping and having a predator stalking you from above just crouching there watching like in predator 2 would be super bad ass.  Game feels like its back in the 90's.  Pickup items and no crouching.

This crouch whining is pissing me off. What the hell would you need crouch for in this game. An alien and a pred would still see you crouched behind a little box trying to camp cod style. And for a defensive point of view it would only be any good if you was a marine against a marine. A pred or alien would be on your ass before you had time to pop up and down. What next will you complain about the lack of a perk system.

And that review that that ben reeves wrote for GI is the biggest loads of bollocks ive ever heard. Has he even played the game. The demo alone is awesome i can only imagine what the full game will be like. The pred is to stealthy ha the alien is disorienting ha thers no ADS for the marine (well i made that up) lol. What a twat!!!  He must be missing his wii or is such a cod fanboy hes scared AVP will take its crown.

Really enjoying the demo, didn't think I'd be playing as the alien so much though. The stealth kills are sooooo satisfying!
 I'm a bit disappointed with the predator but I will reserve judgement until we can play the rest of the maps in the full game because it seems that the refinery really suits the alien.  I've had mixed success with the Marine, shotty is next to useless! The map is way too dark for the poxy flashlight to make much difference.  Been enjoying playing as teams (no species on species killing) makes the species specific mp modes even more anticipated! @MatMaster - A few times while playing the demo the people I was playing with agreed to not kill people of the same species so we did a sudo teamDM. I managed to kill an entire team of four Marines twice without dying and without the help of the other aliens. They were in the large open area hanging out by the Smartgun. Needless to say an Alien is fast enough and deadly enough that one Pounce and Swipe will kill a marine. Predator takes alittle more.

I did notice one thing that kinda ticked me off about the demo. The predator Heavy Attack on the Xbox360 somehow hits you no matter what if you are infront of them. I was up in the rafters fighting a pred as an alien and he was doing a heavy attack so I went to the bottom on the rafters and still got hit even though I was below him. Now I just maul preds quickly and don't allow for the heavy attack.

I personally don't find the combat too static, it is defiantly different compared to the just run and claw of the previous two games. I for one find it a nice change. I do agree that its hard to take out a marine that does know how to block properly just because when go for a heavy attack they can mow you down. But from my experience you never run at a marine head on anyway. Always go from the back or above and pounce on them. Other then that it is just like Rock Paper Scissors except you can see exactly what they are using so you can react accordingly.

None the less if you got the demo on xbox360 add me RonnyRobotPants. Me and my roommate are always down for some killing.

Heavy Attack>Block
Block>Light Attack
Light Attack>Heavy Attack

When countering if you notice they are swinging their hand back or tail in case of alien do a light attack otherwise try and block a lot. When you block a light attack you have one of two options. Either a light attack or a heavy attack. The heavy attack is faster after you block someone thereby making a counter. Also recommend when you are playing as a Pred or Alien use your focus and when you have someone in your focus (Red crap around people for pres, green for aliens) use your light attack making you leap at them and stunning them for a quick second. After this you usually have enough time to do a quick attack and they should be dead. I've been playing this demo quite a bit in the last few days and usually end up with 22-28 kills by the end of the match as alien.

+++:finally an avp game!!! when i played avp1 and avp2 the first day they were released i never thought IT WOULD BE ALMOST 10 YEARS FOR THE NEXT GAME!!!   >:(    

---:graphics could have been a bit better and why they changed the controls? marines should crouch,alien should
jump and hit at the same time from dinstance with 1 button as in avp2 and the predator should long jump as in avp2.i think the controls should have been the same as in avp2.
i haven't played the single player and i'm sure i will love it no matter because i love the alien,predator universe but i think it wont be better than avp1 or avp2 judging from the videos.   :-\    opinions?

The predator can do long jumps but only in focus mode.
What is the advantage of crouch? aliens and predators can see your outline behind objects.
I do think it will  be a shame if we can't play as the facehugger or chestburster. Great thing is apparently there's a predalien in this game- which will be awesome to fight as a predator considering we never got to see who won in AVP:R. I do agree with your alien jump and hit though

Well we all know who won in AvP:R the nuke. Otherwise both Predalien and the Predator were both going to die cause they were both Mortally wounded.

Also one of the most OP things in AvP2 was the pounce attack the alien had. So many of my kills came from running around like an Idiot playing as a runner and pouncing everything that moved.

pounce was good,of course exploding was stupid but an alien can cut a hand off!!! also crouch is good because when a predator is trying to lock on you and try to hide behind an object but your head is over it a headshot is certain.also about the graphics,of course they will be better than avp2 (9 years ago) but i think could have been a bit better like other games.

So just curious i know this game is going to be a freaking amazing game but does anyone else notice when you get stealth killed by an alien and he uses his little mouth to skull rape you it kinda looks like he misses? I mean it looks like it hits off to the side or something. Maybe im just nit picky about it. Amazing game though

Will wait for the full game to make my mind up 100% obviously. But so far im not impressed, compared to the first 2 avp's this lacks a lot of atmoshpere and exciting gameplay. If im not mistaken avp1-2 where PC only, im guessing this is why this new AvP lacks certain things due to having to be made for consoles. Control system seems far too awkward. No crouch is such a big mistake, i mean wtf are you thinkin Rebellion.. and for those who wine saying "crouch is not needed" so what,, Crouch should be there so when playing the marine you can hide behind a crate without your damn head showing up.. And yes, aliens/preds can see you through walls, again another mistake, i dont wanna see where everyone is, how easy do they need to make this game,, Its been made a mass audiance which has pretty much ruined its true gameplay to avp1-2. Its only 1 map, its the demo, so ye the full game will be a lot better im sure. Just not feeling this so far.

i love the demo and ofcourse the full game will be a million times better. but to all you whiney babys complaining about pc is better ,console is better it doesnt really matter as long as you like the game.we arent here to talk about that and we dont really care to hear about it.and for those who are complaining about the game so much why dont you just not buy/play it thats just my opinion and some may agree and disagree but i dont care. all i know is that in my eyes this game OWNS cannot wait till its released AVP FTW

@ zing alien thanks for the combat lesson.. though due to lag / probably host lag because i do not lag in all games..
the melee combat is terrible along with preds that disc spam lag..

if you do a frontal finisher kill move it can be blocked by mashing all the buttons... e, space, mouse 1 and 2... though i have not narrowed it down to what buttons... plus i think u can only block 1 finisher if u have alot of health but if u are near death it cannot be blocked.. or it cannot be blocked the second time around..

i only play alien as its just more skill and fun then the other races. auto transition on so i can go anywhere at any time. sensitivity of mouse in game set to 0.35 for vert and horzontal.

hold shift and hit q and follow someone spamin e pick em off but make sure nothing is near them so u dont get stealth killed.
