The early 1980ies sci-fi scores by James Horner:

(Sorry to say that here, but Alien was not his best work to be honest - it was also to most parts recycled stock music from another production  ;) )

Sorry, you won't believe it after seeing this list, but I'm very selective in my listening preferences  :D

But don't worry, I like it too ... it's just not on my favorites list  ;D

Kaltes

Just a few I can think of off the top of my head:

Heisei Gamera trilogy

Godzilla (various from different movies)

Bram Stoker's Dracula

Manhunter

Predator

Prince of Darkness

georgeromero

Here's my list in no particular order:

Predator 1-2
Every bit of score done by John Carpenter
Dark Knight Returns 1-2
Under The Red Hood
Chaos
The Thing
Big Gundown
The Good, The Bad And The Ugly
28 Days Later
28 Weeks Later
Armour Of God
Assassins Creed Series
Arkham Series
Infamous: Second Son
Into The White
Alien 3
Dredd
Commando
48 Hours 1-2
Once Upon A Time In The West
Rain Man
Resident Evil: Afterlife
Saw Series
Spartan X
Terminator 1-2

Who Am I?

I am sure there are more. But these are the ones I could remember. All things considered Nick Arundel and Christopher Drake are my favorite composers these days. Even though their scores are video game and animated movie based I hope one day to see their work outside of Batman franchise. I am sure both of them would do a great job.

PRJ_since1990

Well one I just discovered recently was the original The Land Before Time OST by James Horner. This series has a very powerful score, but really only the first movie has a soundtrack because the sequels were direct to home video releases and recycled the main themes anyways. Quality wise, the original is the best, although I have a soft spot for the first sequel (Great Valley Adventure) and the other ones are fairly fun, albeit much less memorable. If you grew up with them, the score will have you in tears. Especially the 6th track. Here's a link to the Youtube playlist:

Although these are kids movies, I grew up watching them and my wife and I just got the dvd collection and have been having a lot of fun rewatching them and seeing the newer ones we missed.
