The Cruentus

Its shown to survive longer than a human but not necessarily indefinitely.

Quote from: GrimmVision on Jun 07, 2024, 11:53:45 AMI guess I never got the impression that it needs to breathe given it's been shown to survive in vacuums outside of Romulus.

The RPG (or the W-Y Report, can't remember which) mentions that it's likely the Xenomorph does not need to breathe.

The Cruentus

Not really fully canon though, plus I am talking about the movies. EU tends to go over the top in what Aliens can do.

GrimmVision

So, if it's never been shown to suffocate and die within a vacuum in the films, to my knowledge, and Romulus is now potentially saying it doesn't need to breathe at all, then it must not need to breathe.

Cruentus will die on this hill, do you know why? Because this film's very premise proves they've never needed to breathe in the slightest.

They have not been shown surving space indefinitely in the movies either.  Both jettisoned Aliens were considered killed.

If this movie does it then so be it, won't surprise me anymore with the crap they keep adding.

Quote from: GreybackElder on Jun 06, 2024, 08:45:55 PMOkay, I've got a theory. Is it possible that WY understood how deadly the Alien was so therefore it couldn't keep it on the station. As a safety measure maybe encased the Alien in a rocky polymer like substance just outside the station which gets recalled back because one of the protagonist touched something? Maybe?

I def think the *spoiler is coming in on it's own little Hive Space Ship it made for itself. If anything that makes the whole ordeal a bit more believable ( and kinda cool).

To make that much resin all around itself with little resources to use brings up more questions though.

And it still wouldn't explain how it was found or how it would be alive (if it is) since resin or no, it still would not be able to breathe.

Managed to cocoon Brett and Dallas within hours. Managed to make an entire hive within 2 weeks with mates.

Generally a bit too frothy around the mouth area in every film.

I believe!

And they were probably eating as well.

Yeah, the alien has never needed to breathe, neither in the movies nor expanded media. It survives in vacuums, underwater, different atmospheres (I mean, it'd not be much of a perfect organism if it popped out of a host on a different world and just instantly died because it was oxygen dependent).. the one and only time we've seen anything that resembles breathing is the sound the Queen makes... but without more intel on xeno biology we don't actually know what it's doing... or what it is taking in /putting out (if anything). Also that same queen survived perfectly fine holding onto dropship landing gear on its way back to the Sulaco in orbit (so not just the seconds we've seen them blown out of an airlock).

The Cruentus

It not a perfect organism.

It requires a host, so its not perfect.

PsyKore

Breathing could be a cooling mechanism. Like a machine that needs to vent. Or something.

GrimmVision

Funny, I never got the impression the Alien needs to eat either, outside of gathering the initial nutrients it gets from the host.

Neomorphs didn't nor did the Praetomorph.

;D

The Cruentus

The movies have shown them eating.  ;D
