Back on topic, thanks to Whos_Nick - kept Vimeo as a resource.

Actress Stefany Mathias posted various audition takes for Aruka (Kee and Taabe's mother); scene is between Aruka and Kee.

Her IMDb page: https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0558774/

She's good, but I'm really paying attention to the lines to get a grasp at the dialogue. I really like it. Obviously this is tailored for the audition, probably, but it gives a solid idea of the dialogue and the tone of the characters

We should start to hear some casting news in April.  With production starting in May, I'm sure some of the actors need time to get into shape.

In the prism of confidence and concerns, while I unfortunately personally lost my faith in Producer John Davis and ADI, Dan Trachtenberg and his vision is what's giving me the most hope that he can be ultra focused, guide the people around him, and deliver something really special to the fans. We need a clear vision and someone who knows exactly what they want. And I'm feeling Dan might be that type of guy to deliver. (fingers crossed)

Writer Patrick Aison is the real wildcard to me though. The man has wrote four singular episodes for four singular different shows. He's produced more shows than he's written. And suddenly he's writing a feature film? So is that concerning? Yep. But there has to be a first, right? Every accomplished screenwriter needs to write their first produced screenplay sometime, so I'm trusting in Dan here.

At least with this film, it appears to be more likely it's a standalone entry than Predators and The Predator, and will likely not be setting up any sequels. 🤞

If I've learned anything from doing my podcast, it's that more often than not, the vast majority of a writer's work remains unproduced.

yep, a writer you see credited for a major film/TV series wasn't the only writer to contribute to the script.

Ugh. I know it's really more the norm these days, but I really hope, especially with this assumingly low budget, there's only one writer i.e. Aison credited for the Skulls script, other than Dan joining in perhaps. I'm a big believer of the whole too many cooks spoil the broth analogy.

What I found strange was Patrick worked on four different shows and only wrote one episode in each of them. It's been my experience that a writer is asked back to do one or two more episodes once they're in the roster pool, unless he's just writing pilots. But to be fair, I haven't done that research yet.

Well that stinks.

I was apprehensive to put those auditions on our news page myself because these actors are not stars. I didn't want to see either of these ladies chastised for their performances, or perhaps for letting their auditions go public even.

In a semi-related note, I've always have been meaning to tell you ace that you've been amazing updating all these threads (not just this one) with new movie news, etc. and constantly giving this community something to talk about. Mucho appreciation to you! 👏👏👏

SiL

I feel bad for these actors. These audition tapes absolutely should not be public and now it's getting posted everywhere. This is going to sting their career prospects - not kill, necessarily, but certainly not help.

Fear not. If they're any good at their craft, the disappointment won't even show.

One way, yes, their performance can blow over any criticism thrown at them. Skulls can be that breakthrough for them.

On the other hand, people can stomp on saplings before they can grow into trees and seeing how the internet can spread lies faster than the truth it can be harmful in that way.

Maybe we should keep any audition info and other tidbits like this to a secret just in case we unintentionally mess things up?

Corporal Hicks

It's been 4 days and none of the big boys have picked it up. I think this'll get left alone.

For now, and I hope it stays that way. Just worried if they do sniff it out sooner, the possibility of not finding out is not 0% after all.
