Hicks, RidgeTop and the illfonic guys. Excellent, excellent podcast. So much to unpack and process. I probably have to listen again. Random thoughts:

The return of O.W.L.F.  Yes!!

Stargazer as the enemy. Sounds good to me.

I love the Predator is not a frog / cut off it's head and it's basically a man's body / Tarzan / analogies in regards to the male Predator and the creation of the female... as well as the psychology behind so much Predator cosplaying.

I love how these guys respect the lore AND Predator2! Mad props!

Also mad props to Hicks for keeping his cool with the gentle Predators dismissal.   ;D

So glad the Illfonic pitch won the gig, but I wonder what that other company and that other pitch was that was turned down by Fox.

Damn! No physical special collector's edition.  :'(

The mud mechanic sounds better each time I hear it.

I loved hearing that the Smart-Disc was a priority!

Can't wait for that novel!

Such a great podcast guys!

It was good, but still some missing questions cannot be answered at this point, I guess.

In all fairness, unless we wanted 3 hours of podcasting , there wasn't enough time for anymore questions! These guys just went on and on which was so great, resulting in an interview I bet that makes the lives of Hicks and RidgeTop so easy, especially compared to the opposite.

I fail to see how this respects the lore....no matter how much you guys want it to be its not just a human body with a monster head on it. There is corresponding biology to it and breasts isn't part of it. Again just pervs with zero imagination. It should be bigger or smaller in size for a female. But no breasts. It looks compeletely stupid. Take example from the reptiles and amphibians in nature and their sexual dimophisim. Stan Winston is rolling in his grave with the crap you are doing with his creation.

I meant the same thing which was stated by Hicks.

Look, we get it brother, you don't like it, but it doesn't make the fans or developers who agree with the look and disagree with you deserving of insults like "just pervs with zero imagination".  Also the majority polled here disagrees with you and doesn't have problem with it: https://www.avpgalaxy.net/forum/index.php?topic=63159.0.  So disagree, absolutely, but maybe be a bit nicer about it? Cool?

Hey man the truth hurts. Fanboy involvement in these properties has ruined it. There is absolutely no reason to do what they are doing except for a lack of understanding of design. As you have a right to go on and on about how great it is i have a right to talk about how awful these new designs have been. Especially since that's all we keep getting. A poll means nothing. There current generations are quick to consume whatever garbage comes down the pipe because they don't know any better and will follow trends like lemmings. Especially with nothing better is being done with the predator designs. They rather accept awful iterations and "improvements" or additions than have nothing at all. I rather it be the latter. This community is rife with people who don't respect the original lore and don't understand what made it so great in the first place. Nostalgia and fanboy pandering has forced sensible design to take a back seat and i won't stand for it.

According to your reasoning for the inclusion of breasts or any other hyper sexualized features to denote a female, you might as well slap a pink f**king bow on the predator and call it a day. It's that unimaginative.

Actually we have no rights here my brother. But there are forum rules, and being insulting by suggesting the good people at Illfonic are perverts with no imagination who were nice enough to do this podcast for the fans, probably doesn't adhere to said rules. Just a guess.

I never specifically named them. Though i can see how one might feel it's implied. My beef is with the people on these forums and the deviant art weirdos that started this whole titty, curvy predator movement.

I say this once, and I say it as an administrator here and as someone who doesn't like the breasts on female Predators - liking the design doesn't make someone a perv or DeviantArt weirdo. There's no denying that there are groups of all fandoms that sexualize things - Rule 34 is a thing - but I'm not seeing anyone fapping away here.

And one of our rules is that we respect each other and we're pleasant. Blanketing everyone as a perv is neither. So consider this your one and only warning regarding the matter. If you're unable to discuss your issues without insults, don't bother joining in. Besides, if everyone on these forums is the reason for the breasted Predators, might as well not bother hanging around us.

I like that podcasts come out with set frequency. Good job with that .

Thank you! We try.  :)

What questions do you think were missing?

Offline modes, Predator 2 skin, future plans for dlc, quantity of maps, cross play with PCs, PS5 compatibility, etc.

We'll find out more in the future. If the questions had been asked, it'd have been a simple "can't talk about that at this time."

Good to know it takes place after The Predator.
I was wondering about that. I guess the prequel novel will also be set after the movie.

It would seem to have a bigger bridge. The synopsis makes it sound like it takes place following Predator 2, dealing with the aftermath of the film.

I actually like Predators a lot, and would love to see some skins from that movie.

Same. I'm a big fan of Predators. Even considering how disappointing AvP, Requiem and The Predator are, I'd still love to see some skins based around them.

The return of O.W.L.F.  Yes!!

That's something I'm really happy about myself. OWLF are just not utilized enough in the EU.

Yeah, that's my bad for not following up on this one.

I'm glad you enjoyed it! Chuck and Jared were great guests. Really looking forward to having them on again when they can talk about the rest of what Hunting Grounds has to offer.

The potential follow-up podcast would be great. Some guests, no fault of their own, can be less engaging and therefore less interesting in a podcast format, but I can listen to Chuck and Jared all day!

Maybe I'm looney-tunes. Okay, not maybe,  ;D but am I the only one, based on previous interviews, and now listening very carefully to this podcast, that believes the gents at Illfonic have been hinting something else is in the oven / coming down the pike with Predator other than the Hunting Grounds game and Stalking Shadows novel?

Great interview guys! This game looks so wicked, the only tiiiiny thing that bugs me from the game trailer is the action of the Smart-Disc, in the films when thrown, it doesn't spin, its got smart guidance and propels forward towards its target like a drone, sides of beef be damned. The spinning in the trailer looks rad, but as a big Predator 2 fan, this kinetic detail instantly stuck out to me. I seem to recall some tracer action in one of the games akin to the discs from Tron 2.0, but I may be mis-remembering, did the discs spin in previous games? If so, it would totally make sense to carry forward with this spinning style instead.

Regardless, in general everything in this looks gorgeous, the love for the lore here is evident. Can't wait to see more. Thanks again, crew!

I hear ya. It kind of implies the spinning of the actual smart disc itself is what makes it cut, which is false. But overall, I'm just glad it's incorporated into the game. :)

From what I can find it does spin in Mortal Kombat X, and you can see it spin a bit in the Predator's special move. I want to think AVP Extinction and AVP 2010 do though I could be wrong, with Concrete Jungle I can't really tell.

Nice podcast, really appreciate the work that you put into the interview.  Thanks guys  :)

Can't say I agree with his bit about the female predator, but I understand this is only one iteration among many.  Maybe one day there'll be consistency across the EU!  I do admire the thought they've put into creating this game, I feel like it is definitely in good hands and the payoff will be great.

Will players be able to join in the same fireteam, or will the make-up of the teams be totally random (i.e. randomly assigned)?
