Another for Resurrection, David doing the fingering was a LOL moment which took  me completely out of Covenant.

You know i've talked to a few people who genuinely believe the fingering joke wasn't... well a joke, and was supposed to be a totally innocent line that became unintentional humour.

Fingering is the actual musical term, at least in English, for writing out or playing specific fingers or positions on a given instrument, and has been used in that context since at least the turn of the twentieth century, probably longer. See the image below. I guess I shouldn't have been surprised to see everyone misinterpret that word in the movie. It's an unfortunate association but ask yourself what other word would work in the context? "I'll do the playing"? But surely he isn't the one blowing into the instrument to make the music. In that scene, Walter does the blowing, David does the fingering. It's not the fault of the screenwriter if everyone nowadays is so addicted to porn that they read their own perversions into that dialogue.

Corporal Hicks

Yeah, I honestly thought it was meant to be taken seriously for the musical term but I knew it'd elicit some giggles as soon as it was said because "hehe, sex". I mean, there was certainly some homoerotic stuff going on between the two so maybe it was just supposed to be a double entendre.

It absolutely is intentional homoeroticism, they kiss for crying out loud!

Nightmare Asylum

Yeah, surface level the fingering comment is absolutely about the music and David testing Walter in order to help him create, but given where their character dynamic ultimately goes (or, at least, where David's view of their character dynamic goes), I think it is definitely appropriate to say that any sexual/homoerotic undertones to the line are an absolutely fair assessment.

Covenant is stupid, characters are stupid (Gosh, they are!) and plot is stupid.

Ressurection is wierd, but it's characters are probably my favorite from entire series (Betty crew, hell yeah) and is very consistent.

All things considered, Covenant can die.

That's pretty much what I assumed in that context. Just realized now that some saw it as some kind of joke.

You aren't wrong.

Maybe someone should have asked Fassbender about this on a interview  :P. In regards to David kissing, he would try to kiss even Neomorphs and Aliens if he had the chance.

Ressurection is a bad Firefly script set in the Alien Universe, Covenant is the first draft of a post Sixth Sense Shyamalan script set in the Alien universe.  Both are awful, comparing the two is like trying to pick your favorite STD, or Limp Bizkit album

That would be comparing of The Predator and AvPR :D

But seriously, A:R is entertaining, has great characters. Covenant has plot that moves foreward by dumb decisions of it's characters. They are even dumber then Prometheus crew. On pair with Galaxy of Terrors squad. There are not many things that put me off as much as stupid people and their decisions.
