Yup, Fox are the ones who are the cause of the canonicity arguments in the first place! If they kept everything straight and didn't release contradictory elements, we'd have no reason to shout and insult each other! 

It's a film franchise.  Films don't have to maintain consistency with other media, and the other media can only try and maintain consistency with the films.  Licensing doesn't have a crystal ball.

Well, I wasn't exactly being serious, there, but OK.

If an 'Alien Bible' was held by Fox for consistency, though, it would probably make things easier.

Instahug, if anything.  The other options only further serve to undermine the concept of requiring a good facehugging as a delivery system for the spore.

The Lope-hugger probably suffered from premature ejaculation.  The Kane-hugger was more like a seasoned pornstar.
