Greetings!

I'm in talks with 21st Century Fox right now regarding making a fan film about Ahab. They have responded and forwarded me to the right people to ask. So I'm waiting for them to advise me on what the perimeters would be. I have reached out to the comic book artists and all of them seem excited to see it happen.

Given the quality of the suit I'm having made by Christopher Du-bois, I think that it would be a shame not to utilize it for a passion project film. Reference my other thread for that work. https://www.avpgalaxy.net/forum/index.php?topic=61018.0

I'm still working on the plot, what characters will be involved, and the gritty details. I do know I want it to be Predator-centric. From Ahab's perspective. I'm thinking of having it take place directly after the events of the comics and going from there. The first step is to get the permissions to do some from Fox before getting (even) more serious about it. Worst case scenario, I have a one of a kind costume for cons and events.

I'm always looking forward to new fanfilms! Keen to see what you come up with.

When you say support, are you looking to crowd fund?

Thanks, Hicks. It all hinges on getting permission and finding passionate people. If I can get those two things I am confident that I can make it happen.

The passionate help is what really makes all the difference. I will say now do not get hopes up about any form of crowd-funding. The Alien & Predator crowd are not very open to that kind of thing.

I am surprised Fox would point you in the right direction, they usually shutdown fan made media of the franchise.

Not usually. My experience is that they usually go after things that are similar or could "compete" with whatever they're currently working on.

I honestly don't understand the logic in that though, a fan film, no matter how good shouldn't affect the sales of an official product. I mean most audiences would still go to see an official movie in theatre or buy the bluray/book/comic/game. At least I would have thought so.

I already know I will lose money on this. That is okay though as I have invested big money on the suit already.

I think a prequel to the FaS/LaD story would be the easiest to realize.

You could even have it be set on earth without aliens to save on the cash.

Before his obsession with the engineers Ahab probably went after humans at some point of his long life, so he knows about earth and its inhabitants.
Your suit has the face damage already, so he roughly knows about the engineers by that point, but he has to spend his time somehow until he got more clues on them.

Maybe have him search for engineer traces on earth. He found them on the four armed humanoids planet, maybe he made the connection that there are also traces on other humanoid's planets, like earth.

There he could run into trouble. Maybe have him search places of ancient civilizations for clues. This leads him into some crisis area where some armed militia/terrorists/goons try their luck with illegal excavation to fund their cause. This way you could use a mix of dated equipment\weapons/uniforms, again doing some saving on coin.

Sure Ahab vs militia does not sound very fancy or big scale/epic, but I think it would be more doable than something in space with aliens, colonial marines, engineers and all that.

If Ahab was on Earth I'd say throw him into the jungle during Vietnam or the mountainous regions of Afghanistan. Plenty of forgotten caves in either of those places for some Engineer cave art to be hiding.

It's about playing to your means, though. What kind of locations do you have nearby, Ahab?

I taken that into consideration...Being in Florida its really easy to replicate most tropical settings so that's instantly what my mind goes to

Maybe fanfilms... but fan games? Anyone remember that Aliens vs Marines mod for the AVP Classic? It looked insane, hell I can't find it on youtube anymore since Fox seems to have purged all traces of it but I remember thinking how the "official work" looked a shame next to it.

But back to fanfilms the fights on AVP Redemption were more creative/interesting than the ones on movies. Plus despite being CGI, the aliens were biomechanical which already makes them more pleasant for me to look at than the ADI ones.

Fanmade stuff can have a lot of potential.

Thank you for having an open mind. I can't tell you how many times I've had people say it's a stupid idea and that I (or other fans) could never write or produce anything of value.
