Alien (1979) - Nostromo Ambient Soundscape:

I've re-edited an audio sample by sound editor Jim Shields, and combined Alan Splet's "Choral Textures" soundtrack in the distant background. The engine rumble and pulse is my best attempt to match the cadence of the film. (Jim Shields and Alan Splet were masters of their craft).

Alien 3 (1992) - Candle Scene (Remix Edit):

Here's an alternate cut of "Alien 3" that I mixed and edited in my spare time. Note: The edit of the candle at (0:34) was dissolved from two separate shots in this scene. Also, the dialogue was mostly taken from the last tunnel scene, and enhanced with wider sound and layered effects... (I also put Jimmy Shields' engine noises in the background to add more atmosphere).

Here's more audio samples I've re-edited by sound editor, Jim Shields... I also mixed/edited Alan Splet's "Industrial Sounds with Soul" sample in parts of an edited tracking shot loop. BTW, this rumble effect from Jimmy Shields was also used in the original "Blade Runner" film.

Based on the article with Theo Green, I've submitted updates to both Jim Shields and Ben Burtt on IMDB to include sound credits for "Blade Runner" (1982)... I knew many sounds from "Alien" were used in "Blade Runner" before, but I thought they were just used from Scott's audio library and manipulated by the other sound crew... I never knew both of these sound experts were active working with Vangelis during the production. (Jim Shields probably had a good working relationship with Vangelis after his sound work on "Chariots of Fire" that previous year).

Here's one more soundscape that I mixed and edited from sound designer, Jim Shields. This engine noise was difficult to sample since echos of Dallas and Ripley are in the background. Note: Water sounds are from "Aliens" (1986), and other low frequency effects I've also added to the mix.
