QuoteThe one in Alien: Resurrection would probably have worked if the General hadn't chucked a grenade into it.

A few had already successfully launched.  And considering they're at the edge of our solar system, they stood the best chance of being picked up.  Crispin included some stuff in the novel about being able to pilot the Auriga remotely from a lifeboat from memory.

QuoteNo that was Vickers' executive lifeboat suite.

Yep.

Who ever designed those things wasn't counting there being any cake shifters being in the crew. They sure look cramped!

The Alien: Resurrection game has a level where you stop an escape pod from going "critical" and blowing up the entire Auriga. You actually see it happen if you fail to find "coolant" for it if I remember correctly. So these life boats have a terrible record as well if you count this game.

They'd have to do a physical before leaving.  And no cake allowed from the galley.

Nice to know BAE Systems survive well into the future..

Issues with lifeboats you say?

BAE claimed the faults were minor and had no impact on safety. It's understood many of the issues were known by the Royal Navy and were picked up during early trials of the ship as she sailed from the Clyde, in Scotland, to her home in Portsmouth.

Among the defects identifed was a flaw in a small number of bolts in the structures attaching some of the ship's eight life-rafts to its hull, with bolt heads found to have been cut off and glued in place.

:-))
