Concrete Jungle takes place in 1991. Predator 2 is 1997.
yeaaaah, it get's all sorts of timey-wimey thanks to some Billie-and-Wilks-esque editorial revisionism. Here's what Xenopedia says on the matter:
"In the original release of the first Predator series, it is clear that the story is supposed to be set in the near future — similar to the film Predator 2, which was loosely based on concepts from the comic series. Evidence of this can be seen in the introductory narration by Detective Rasche, during which he refers to the year 1991 in the past tense (stating that it was hotter than it had been "back in '91"). However, with the release of the sequel series, Predator: Cold War, the date of the original incident was changed, as events in Cold War are said to take place in 1990, while the events of the first comic are said to have taken place "five months ago" and "last year", placing them in 1989, contemporary to the publication of the original comic book. This change in date was solidified in reprints and new collections of Concrete Jungle, which change the year mentioned in Rasche's narration to 1987"So like... depending on which way you reckon, CJ is in 1989, 1990, or the near future of the time which was supposed to be like 95 or 97, but my recollection is fuzzy where that specific year came from. So it's all sortsa wacky. Also the conceit of everyone just forgetting that one summer in New York where an alien spaceship decloaked and started blasting buildings to hell is pretty funny. Mass hallucination I guess.
To make it even more complicated, apparently Concrete Jungle the novel has Gen Philips saying it's 8 years later, which would place the events of CJ in 1995, then later Schaefer says he saw his brother 7 years before, implying a visit sometime in 1988. Later in the Cold War novel Schaefer says the New York incident was last year, implying it's now 1996. There was never a novelization for Dark River but the publisher's summary says its 3 years after Cold War, which if going by the novels would make it 1999, but the text of the comics explicitly puts Cold War in 1990, 5 mos or a year after New York, placing CJ in '90 or '89, and subsequently placing Dark River in 1993. However the text for Dark River explicitly say it's August of 1996.
And we're not even going to mention the incorrect date on the Stargazer ipad for the LA incident in The Predator.
In the words of former NYPD Det. John Schaefer. "Ain't she a hoot?"
