Here's my personal review of the Alien Covenant Blu-Ray, out this week in the US. My review of the movie is still very positive. Special features on the disc are pretty underwhelming however with David's Illustrations probably the most interesting part of it.

I've also updated the Deleted Scenes page with the new additions from the set:

I really need to watch the film again and the steelbook is really nice.. but I need the special edition. I don't know if buying it twice would be worth it.

I'm still absolutely gutted that CdL isn't involved but I'm keen to see that behind-the-scenes documentary!

Another home release trailer.

Anybody know if Costco Canada is carrying a special edition of AC blu-ray?  Or is the version in stores basically the same thing?

I just bought the special booklet edition at Target that Hicks linked above because Best Buy was already sold out of the 4k Steelbook. It's very classy.

Unaware of any alternate release in Canada, apart from the Best Buy steelbook (you're a Toronto guy, right? Yonge and Dundas didn't have it, but they've got the regular release).

I was considering getting the Best Buy steelbook but I ended up getting the Target Blu-ray special edition because of the booklet. The artwork and pictures are great, very happy with my purchase.

The video below shows creature effects supervisor Adam Johansen and others making and tweaking some of the props that have become iconic symbols of terror in the Alien film franchise.

Contains a snippet of the behind-the-scenes feature on the blu-ray apparently.

I got it too. It's a nice little booklet. I still think the Best Buy exclusive steel case was the best. I'll take some pictures later on. A lot of it the images are from the The Story and Art Making of book. There was some stuff I'd never seen though.

Some guy just uploaded an unboxing video of the new Alien 6 Film Collection. The original movie poster cards are a nice bonus. Me want.

The cards are nice... but otherwise, it's definitely a bare bones set for the filthy casuals. :P

I'm hoping for something fancier, like that Prometheus to Alien Evolution set.  Until then, I've gone with the Target release for Covenant.

Just echoing what the guys above are saying. The cards are pretty cool but the set itself seems pretty bare - no features disk - which is a shame. I guess it's one for the collectors.

I just went through all the features.  David's illustrations goes into quite a lot of detail.  Phobos is weird, but interesting short film, isn't there also something like this for Prometheus with crew interviews and such?.  I really like Advent, that's my favourite.

The deleted scenes are all good, they should have been left in the film.  I especially like The Crossing and Daniels Apartment on Earth.  They add a bit more depth.

Watching it again on blu-ray, such a shame there might not be a sequel now, but instead Aliens remake/reboot (probably).  The series is going in such an interesting direction to fall back to derivativeness.
