Someone would look into LV223 again. When it says UNDISCLOSED, it doesn't mean NOBODY. It means CLASSIFIED info.
Yes, Weyland, Holloway and Shaw knew but they're all goners now.
QuotePlus you aren't considering that these scientists worked for years on this research. There were other people involved. This is likely a mistake of bad writing, but to think that Charlie and Shaw only ever spoke to Weyland about their theories, and kept that info away from their research team after multiple digs and excavations around the world, not too mention a THESIS was written... It doesn't make a lot of sense.
Oh, they spoke to
everyone about their theories all right. In Spaiths draft, Holloway and Shaw shop their theory around to various companies in order to get funding for an expedition but always get rejected. The implication is that no-one takes them seriously until Weyland gives them the benefit of the doubt. Even in Prometheus you can still see they are not considered respected scientists by the way Vickers treats them. Even the ever polite David makes a dig at Holloway's "thesis".
But, it would have been really dumb of them to tell everyone the exact location, that the Engineers were pointing to LV-223. Because when you think you've stumbled upon an undiscovered gold vein you don't broadcast it to the world. You keep it to yourself until you get there and stake your claim.
Same goes for Weyland, once he agreed to fund the mission he would have kept the actual location under wraps as well in order to avoid the information falling into the hands of a rival company. And that is why everyone on board only gets briefed
after they arrive at LV-223.
So it makes perfect sense after all.
