Wayne Haag will finish his work next week.

I think the main montage (but not last) is completed. Now music. After the sound work. And of course a lot of work on FX. There still for a few months. Then Screening test and work of final editing.
How do you know all this?

When you saw main montage do you mean opening credits?

I've lurked on this board since Jesus, I remember the Planet AvP days, and one thing that I feel comes with the territory of fanbase communities like ours is a lot of gossip and fabrication. Personally, I take everything said along the lines of "x will be done tomorrow" with a airplane carrier sized grain of salt. Unless I see something in writing, I don't believe it. While advances have been made in editing and production, the silence we have been privy to with regard to any substantial news is indicative of the crew working hard on their assignments. Oh, not to mention the legal ramifications that come from actually spilling vital information about the film—there's always that.

I don't about Gregson. His main themes are pretty good but he's one of those modern digital glitchy highly synthethic sounding composers. It all just sounds like crappy computer sounds.

Oh, no my friend. He is primarily educated in orchestral and choral music.
Read about his background a bit.

Thanks for this man, good stuff!

Also, HGW's work on the Metal Gear series is well orchestrated IMO.

Absolutely nothing official, but I know how Scott (+his team) works. And he works very fast (14 hours a day). The post production will last 6-7 months.
The first month he made a rough cut. It must be 3 hours.
Then it will easily cut 25 minutes.
This second editing will be refined with addition of music (sometimes temporary)  work sound mixing, VFX (not completed) ...
After that they can do test screenings, then they will work again mounting. May be reshoot some scenes.
And they will begin the final cut.

This is the same method of work for Prometheus, Counselor, Exodus, The Martian. And he will soon begin pre-production for his next film.

Someone (probably one of you lot) was pushing him to see if it'd be released earlier.

No, long way to go. My role is almost done but there's tons of VFX yet to be finished..

I'd much rather August than a rush job!

As beautiful as that studio is and as great as that room sounds, I'm probably the only person here disappointed in seeing photos of an orchestra.

I'm just bored of traditional instruments in soundtracks currently as it always ends up sounding way over the top.  I was hoping for something more pure digital/serialist.  Something really cold and removed feeling and sounds.  I really wanted a more inhuman/out there sound track for this one.

Just because they are writing and recording 'traditionally' doesnt mean they aren't digitally processing or adding effects. Also, while I love electronic scores, its 2016, a digital or electronic score is hardly anything new or groundbreaking. Especially in a Ridley Scott film.
You might be surprised, if you did some digging, just how much of the scores in Alien films were enhanced by digital filters, effect processed and even recorded backwards.

Mine thoughts exactly! I would like some hybrid mix of orchestral and strange digital-electronic.
Return of ancient instruments like conch shell would be interesting, Goldsmith used such instruments (serpent with flutes,didjeridu...) perfectly!

What do you think about Goldsmiths and Horners soundtracks,
or Goldenthals for that matter?

They were all amazing. Goldenthal's score to ALIEN 3 is one of the best Ive ever heard and easily the best of the Alien franchise IMO.
