ALIENS: Morse's Code

But the opening screen title must start off as "Alien: -- --- .-. ... . -.-. --- -.. ." and then morph into letters.

Freaking brilliant The Eighth Passenger!

You know, the more I think about it, the more this Morse Code TV show spin-off makes sense. It could work as a separate Alien 3 story thread divergent from Blomkamp's upcoming post-Aliens sequel. It wouldn't need Ripley since by Alien 3's story progression she wouldn't show up until Resurrection 200 or so years later.

It would allow Fox to give the Alien 3 camp their own thing while Blomkamp does his thing. Everyone wins (as long as both Blomkamp's movie and this show were good).

Xenomorphine

Nobody in Fox is seriously interested in 'Alien 3' (aside from continuity purposes, which now might go out of the window) and if people are seriously making age-related digs at Weaver, you really would have to apply expensive de-aging to Danny Webb for each episode.

And as 'Alien Resurrection' dialogue effectively tells us there are no publicly known events where the actual creatures would show up, the viewing figures would be very low.

Morse could go off on his own expedition out to the colonies looking for answers much like Amanda Ripley in Isolation. He'd also look to uncover other shady aspects of Weyland-Yutani. This spin-off wouldn't have to focus only on the aliens. There could be other story threads like the Auton synthetics, general synthetic revolts, Prometheus related elements.

I agree that there probably isn't much interest in this sort of thing among the powers that be at 20th Century Fox. I just thought it could be a fun spin-off. If not a TV series, maybe a novel or comic book. If it did happen as a TV series I would guess they would cast a younger actor now to portray Morse. He's not nearly as iconic as Sigourney Weaver's Ripley. Hey, if Sarah Connor can be recast then Morse probably can be too.

When does Morse get released from prison to go on expeditions? He's a lifer, right? The company would debrief him and leave him to rot somewhere, I think.

MaXenaeL

Logically Morse was evaquated from Furia to another prison. That is all.

I thought he got out at some point and wrote that book about the events surrounding the alien and Ripley on Fury 161. Perhaps he cooperated with W-Y just enough to get his sentence reduced and then released? The company would want to interview him about the alien since by the end of Alien 3 he is the only living survivor of an encounter with the deadly star beast.

It also doesn't have to be Morse. A series like this could work with a new character. I always did wonder about Morse though. He was an angry guy, but potentially interesting in a spin-off along these lines. Perhaps a non-canon what if comic from Dark Horse would be the best fit for this idea.

It would be better as a graphic novel. The only reason people would watch an 'Alien'-related television show is for the creatures being involved.

And if it's just about a futuristic company's dark dealings, it might as well just be its own original property.
