What's the point then of buying any game when you know that CryeEngine Cinebox can rendered Ultra High amount of polygons, complex lighting close to any render software such as VRay and Mental Ray, 3D Particles and compositing post-process in RealTime for an "almost" if not "total" photo-realistic look at more than 30fps and that this very technology is already available?
Graphics are part of a stylistic choice, they of course play a big part but not the way as people think they do actually.
It's not that Special Effects are old sometimes in 2001: A Space Odyssey, but some still haven't been bitten by their complexity due to the stylistic choice used.
Graphics help to empower, but they are not the power and shouldn't be an argument.
They are the technical way but not the content.
Also, I believe not everyone on this forum is equipped with a Dual XEON E5645, 24 go ram and 3x NVIDIA 580 GT as I do.
So how do you do to makes people play a game if they are not equal in terms of possibilities? You cut the graphics and remain to the average so that people can play it.
