It's a good thing they don't have a great template that they can follow to lure you in and than do a 180 when they run out of material.

It has to stand on it's own for the most part from day one this time.

I know rationally speaking it's a new team, but it's honestly hard to care after the ending the main series adaptation received.

Yeah, its the same with the talk of a prequel that will delve into the history of the white walkers.  What's the point?  They amount to absolutely nothing.
