The budget existed.

Emilia Clarke is still immensely passionate about Daenerys Targaryen,
as a recent interview showed.
And the actors certainly gave it their all this Season, regardless of the scenarios.

HBO wanted 10 Seasons, D&D wanted out.

I don't understand why Bryan Cogman didn't replace them as showrunner.

This fan came up with how he would have staged the six episodes of Season 8, keeping the established character arcs intact.

I must say this would have made a much better ending, using real estate they had, and honoring what logic came before it.

Some nice ideas, but it assumes the budget exists for additional large scale battles, which cost a lot and take months to produce.

Not saying the shortened series couldn't have been better, but we don't really know what forces were at play.

Some of the interviews and behind the scenes stuff hints at a cast that has lost interest IMHO.

Well they wouldn't be filming scenes like Dany & Drogon for 15 minutes destroying the city and the people in it, demolishing buildings as people get crushed or burned in the streets, so that would have freed up a sizeable chunk of the budget.

And I wouldn't knock the cast. There's enough videos out there where they dance around their disappointment with how the story concluded. That's why I think they look deflated in interviews, defeated even, like how many of the fans feel now.

I dont buy the budget excuse. The show was at the apex of it's popularity regardless of the quality.

Even people not watching game of thrones were asking about game of thrones.

My honest advice, you don't want to get invested in an incomplete series.

Maybe pick up
"The World of Ice and Fire" instead?
