Aliens Vs. Predator a Prequel?

Is it really not possible that this movie could be a prequel? If it is true that the P1 ship is the crashed ship in this film, I think that is a great idea. Colin did say that they are making their OWN movie......so whatever that means. I think it is a prequel personally. Im not sure but did the words "sequel" ever come out of Colins or his brothers mouth?
