How exactly did Hicks die? I never understood that
maybe i missed something?

What wasn't clear? He was impaled in hypersleep by a crossbeam in the EEV.

I never got why people cared about hicks so much.
He didn't do anything special :l

I just love his subtle badassery.  No he didn't kill a billion xenos but sleeping during the drop, old school shotgun, soft spoken attitude make him such a badass.

I love Alien3 though so i stand by it's decision.  Better to rock out and die young than fade away.

He was presented in a cool, laid back manner. He wasn't clamoring for the spotlight or anything. And I love when he falls asleep in the drop ship in Aliens

Well i believed Hicks was a good character to the movie, provided that silent leader type, lead by example.  Plus not to mention the budding relationship between him and Ripley. Not much found of relationships in movies like Aliens, but wouldnt have mind to see them grow more in Alien 3 provided they kept him alive...I mean could have him in 3rd one and then have him die in a heroic way, not just outright before movie even starts
