Old interview. Really old. But look at this:

PWSA:
QuoteFor example, in AVP you're not just free to change the design of the
Alien, nor would I want to. I think that where the Alien franchise has
attempted to do that the movies have been less successful. I was not a
big fan of the kind of change of the look of the Alien in "Alien3," for
example, or the way the alien look in "Alien: Resurrection." Creatively,
we went back to the original Giger design of the Alien, which is kind of
like the classic form from Ridley Scott's movie. So we didn't get to
play with the look of the Alien, and I don't think that is a bad thing.
Yeah. Right.
QuoteOne of the things that assisted us is my insistence
to returning to the classic designs to a lot of the creatures. I wanted
to go back to Ridley Scott's Giger look for the Alien. I want to stick
with a classic look for the Predator. I think if we had wanted to
redesign the Alien and redesigned Predator, create something like the
"newborn" that appeared in "Alien: Resurrection," there may have been a
much longer lead-time on the film. Because we were going from original
classic designs, and then working with a lot of the people who
manufactured those original classic designs, that certainly did help us
speed up the process a little. We work with Tom Woodruff and Alec Gillis
of ADI. Tom has been the guy in the Alien suit for the past three
movies. They built the aliens and had built an Alien Queen, so for them
it was just a matter of looking through the old blueprints.

WTF? Really, that's quite the delusional statement. And I'm taking into consideration that he thinks the AVP design is drastically different from the Resurrection design.

He thought his alien was close to Giger's?

Seems he was living in his head when making that movie.

He also makes mention to his pyramid designs being based on the ship in Predator 2, which hardly comes through in the final film at all....I honestly think he was completely out of it during that entire interview. His aliens were the exact same design as in Resurrection, with the exception of the paint scheme...yet he lauds them as being just like Giger's. What a laugh.

As for his comment on giving the predators a "classic" look, & not redesigning them, don't even get me started...

I think its because paul anderson made the changes to the creatures he wanted to make.

In that interview he says that he did not like the design of the alien in Alien 3 but I actually thought that design was quite good.

I wonder how old this interview is becuase his Aliens looks incedibly similiar to the ones from Ressurection. That is unless he meant his design was more classic becuase he used more man in suit action then CGI.

As for the Predator well, we've all heard it before: Too bulky, madibles too spaced apart, (IMO the worst) their new growls and roars, and Scar's really goofy babyface look.
