AvP:R ship

If the ship in AvP:R is the same ship from the first AvP, why is the one from AvP:R so small compared to the huge ship as seen in AvP? Did they just want a different feel about the ship and size?

In the DVD, it is clarified that this is a different, much smaller ship. In the other version, we'll see them depart.
