The predators are more interesting...

Interesting, but not as scary.

You could make the Predators scary fairly easily.  It's just a tone change.

See Psykore and his sp campaign FEAR 3 where the Pred was his big bad.

Billie's, Mac's and Dillon's deaths in Predator, and the train scene in Predator 2 did a good job of showing how scary a Predator can be.

>you will never get a slasher/horror Predator movie that plays up the brute terror of being hunted

Most things are scary off screen. I meant their actual appearance.

I love both, but my favorite are the Predators. The original Predator is what I watched first, often with my father. Alien came a little later.
I remember being very upset back in 2004 (I was 14 then) when Grid killed both Chopper and Celtic in a row :P
I was like "Hell yeah, 3 Predators! There's going to be a lot of cool fights against the Aliens and... wait a minute... what?!"

Most of the audience's reaction to AVP. "What?"

I've grown to enjoy AVP as a piece of trashy entertainment, but seeing it in the cinema for the first time back when it came out, it was the single biggest movie disappointment of my entire life.

Prometheus is a fairly close second.

Yeah, I'd agree in principle.

Same.  I watched it the other night and found I wasn't being critical at all.

I really liked the whaling station massacre.  Especially the part when Celtic's active camo malfunctioned and how pissed he got.

Grid should've had a better death.

Yep, agreed. There was more they could've done with Grid, easily.

I believe the role is extended in the novelisation.

IIRC the novel treated him more like an Alpha of the pack.
