Anyone play this? I actually got this working well on an emulator (although the controls are a bit clunky).
It might actually be better than the movie as the levels are very well lit :)
It reminds me of Predator: Concrete Jungle as you get to tear shit up as a badass Predator in semi-open environments.

I've only played AVP Evolution and Predators, which seem fairly similar.
It's a repetitive button masher movie tie in.
It's okay. I know at least two people who bought a PSP just o play it and were immensely dissappointed.
The ending is dog shit. No predalien, no queen. You just fight a chopper and then see the queen get nuked. The End.
For what it is - which was a movie tie-in in an age where movie tie-ins are lazy and slapped together - it was pretty fun. It wasn't anything special but it was probably a more entertaining play than Colonial Marines.
It was short, easy, and the ending sucked.
I will give it props for looking pretty good. It's got one of the better implementations of vision modes and cloak that we've ever had in an AVP game.
I asked Rebellion about it when i was on RVG forum :
Myself:
AVP PSP, really put together in under 5 weeks? Or media myth?.
Jason Kingsley
Yup 5 weeks from start to finish with an existing engine in place and lots of retained knowledge. They even managed to make us change the end game boss to avoid film spoilers, then release the film trailer complete with spoilers in it anyway.
So to be far, whilst it is awful...i have it in my PSP collection, there are reasons why it's so awful.

lol avoid film spoiler? The R rated trailer of the movie had already spoiled the whole thing, including the final fight and the bombing. A predalien as the final boss would be better.
Are there any actual boss fights in the game?

Just the helicopter.
I think there's a tank at one point that could be considered a mini boss, but i'm not sure on that. Could just be my senile old age catching up with me.
There are basically two types of alien(adult and something that looks sorta kinda like a Praetorian), some towns folk, and the national guard. That's it.
I think I played the first level of this game but couldn't be bothered doing the rest. It's definitely better than the movie, but so is being punched in the face.
Will probably try to finish this as it's not that long (about 3 hours from gameplay videos).

Impressive. Shit game, but impressive that they cobbeled this together in weeks.
For a quick bashed together game it was reasonably entertaining.
I have seen clips of it, it reminds me a little of Predator concrete jungle.
Also the idea of the infestation being caused by facehuggers rather then Chet is better, I hated that new life-cycle.
The melting of dead facehuggers (are there any live ones?) and collecting Predator ship parts is cute.

I recall a small snipet back in 1997-1998 that was telling how Alien versus Predator was going to be an action adventure in which you had to go looking for ship parts and weapons as a predator. I imagined a radically different game then we've gotten.
There were plans for another AVP in the 90s that was directly based on the comic, called "Terror on Ryushi." Maybe that was for that game?

No, it specifically mentioned Rebellion as developer. Still, I would approve an AvP based on the comics or even the Briggs script (which I still love).
THREAD NECROMANCYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
I recently got my hands on a PSVita and homebrewed the shit out of it, which included putting a PSP emulator on it.
Naturally, I loaded AvP Requiem on it.
I haven't actually played it yet, I just wanted to share my poor decision making skills.
Even if it was based on that shitty movie, having an AvP game on my recently bought PSP was truly magical

I didn't know about this game until now :o is the game better than the movie as in the case of
Alien Resurrection?
Although the ending fight is bad (not against what you might expect), the actual cinematic is good and improves the movie.
The Alien: Resurrection game is an underrated classic compared to this.

The game's developers outright admitted they had no idea what the plot of the movie was. So it very loosely follows it but that's fine since the game is entirely from Wolf's perspective. Some things are changed but it's a result of not knowing more than actually making changes to the script.
Spoiler
- The crash happens at night
- The kid's facehugging is omitted
- No Predalien
- Praetorian appear and in larger numbers
- Some slight continuity errors like Wolf being Scar in the opening and ending cutscene and Scar's body actually being visible in the game despite it not being on the scout ship in the movie, also portrayed as Wolf weirdly enough despite it being present for multiplayer.
- Some decoration in the highschool levels put the game in the year it released rather than 2004.
- There is a Queen but you never fight it
- Wolf lives in the game where he is said to have died in Hunting Grounds and died in the movie. Making this to date the only time a movie Predator has lived albeit he survives in the tie-in.
The final boss is bizarre in comparison to the movie
Wait, there's no PredAlien in the game? Like, at all?
Quote from: Xenomrph on Feb 27, 2023, 07:13:45 PMWait, there's no PredAlien in the game? Like, at all?
Nope. The devs had no idea of it was implemented at all and early scripts had it die in the crash. So there would've been no way for them to know if it made it into the movie until the trailer dropped.

I have AVP Classic installed on my Vita and finally got the right stick inverted so I can actually play it.
Love the vita.
Have a few Alien games on there.
I wonder if the developers actually thought that Wolf would survive the movie. A valid assumption!

Personally I think he should have.

Agreed, but then you would have the Predators "Win". Perhaps add another trope that "an egg survived somewhere" to balance it out.

I actually just found about this Alien Vs Predator (https://www.emugames.net/playstation-portable-roms/aliens-vs-predator-requiem/) game. It seems really interesting. Has any of you finished the game? Does it take long?
