This has always been at the back of mind, but the Preds we saw look nothing like the discription in the script. Indeed, they don't look very 'super'. Until we get some proper pics and footage I'm going to assume they dropped the idea together. Different than the 'normal' Pred, obviously, but mabye not to such an extent.
I would very much welcome it.
But bloody disgusting got the confirmation that Brian Steele is in fact playing the "Black Super Predator".
So no, i guess they haven't dropped the idea, unfortunately.
Oh well. :(
I think the best thing we can do is just wait, even thought I'm pretty sure that, judging by the pictures most of the ''super pred'' ideias have been dropped (because of their appearence, the normal looking plasma caster...), you never know, but lets hope for the best.
Plasma caster is not normal. It still have three barrels and is probably rotary. I just prey that it won`t take down minigun bullets in midair.
I just looked at the pictures and only saw one barrel in it.

He keeps saying, just let him keep saying it. For some bat-f**k crazy reason, he thinks that there are three.
I hope you`ll apologise about it when we`ll get better quality pictures.
@SamHain
I`ll PM you a picture.
I know what you're talking about, I've seen you highlight it before. It's one barrel, but triangular-shaped kinda, and you think that means a "triple plasma-caster". A "triple plasma-caster" means that there are three BARRELS.
I'd say judging by those pics that there's no triple plasma-caster in this movie. We would've seen it.

You just broke my heart, dammit!
Triple barrel, double barrel, why does it matter?
Its not the end of the world. May be the BSP just likes a triple format? Just because Preds in the past had a single barrel, why is it such a big deal if one likes three?
This has got to be one of the most retarded thing anyone has used to bash a film.
Its a joke right?
No joke.
Nah, your messing with me. May be he or she is just being sarcastic. A sly dig at people who bash the film so prematurely? I refuse to believe someone would be upset over a shoulder canon being triple barreled instead of one.
Genetic engineering, black blood ect I can understand why some fans can be upset bout these but a triple cannon? Da f**k!? No one is that petty, lol
Well in my case, I believed it was three separate plasma casters, that idea pissed me off, but if it's actually just a triple barrel, then I don't see what is so wrong about that.
It's more its use in the movie - As a kind'a shoulder-cannon machine gun.
Which is a really stupid idea for a hunter. These things drag these people halfway through the universe to just cut them in half at once with a super-powered minigun shoulder cannon? What the f**k's the point?
Fair enough dude

Oh, yeah that too. Wasn't this "chain gun" used to deflect the bullets of the mini-gun used by the big Russian or whoever, or was that just me adding more bullshit out of my mind?
I don't think that happened, but it wouldn't be too out there for the script.
I just went back and it says that "human and predator rounds collide in mid-air..." not sure if it means that the bullets are hitting each other with the precision of the pred chain gun, but that's what I got out of it the first time i read it.
Yeah, somehow the Predator manages to shoot the Russians bullets out of midair. One of my least favorite parts of the script.
Wouldn't the plasma vaporize the bullets and still hit Nikolai?
-Rakai'Thwei
I will go and re-read again to find out just what the hell the pred was firing, would be more stupid it if was bullets, but it probably is, cus I don't see a reason for the Pred to have a chain gun, when the plasma caster by itself is a good enough weapon.
EDIT: well in the next page or so, it says that Isabella has bullets coming her way, but I think they are just coming from her own bullets ricocheting off the "unknown metal" in the script, and her own rounds are probably going back to her, I don't now, this script is insane.
EDIT 2: The whole RAT TAT TAT TA TAT bit kinda does give away that these things are bullets coming from the Pred.
Yeah, I`m quite certain that there was something about deflecting MINIGUN bullets in mid air.

......Okaaay.. ::)
So what was wrong with just shooting plasma? Plasma works better than bullets if you ask me.

Thankfully he isn't writing the script. Otherwise we'd get the predator yelling out horrible lines and every single character would be bat-shit insane.

[Snickers] I was refering to me having a beer.
But seriously, looking back at that part... Predator plasma caster shooting bullets.. Not too keen on that if you ask me.
-Rakai'Thwei
It doesn't even say that it's the plasma caster at all, I think we're gonna be looking at a completely new weapon.
Spoiler
Nikolai sees it, UNLOADS on the thing with the chaingun, the
ROAR of the weapon matched by his BATTLECRY.
PREDATOR POV: Bullets stream toward us in ghastly slow
motion. Targeting system tracks each projectile, reads their
telemetry, locks on.
And then the creature OPENS UP with a chaingun of its own.
An ERUPTION of flame. The thing is a monster. Makes Nikolai's
BFG look like a child's toy.
Human and Predator rounds COLLIDE mid-air, CLATTER on the
ground. Chaingun vs. chaingun.

Know what.. Not keen on the idea of Predators utilizing bullets at all. I just don't like that. I mean it would've been better to either have the BSP fire plasma instead.
Wasn't there a Kenner Predator figure with a similar weapon?

I can picture a John Woo slow-mo scene going on. A zoom in on the bullets, colliding with each other, sound dramatically increased as the ping of bullets are increased to thunderous booms, and the rounds falling on the ground with thunderous booms.
....Why was I lying to myself that this visualization could be good?

If it was something else, it would look cool.
Oh and I just checked the Kenner figures and the closest I got was this.

But it could also be something closer to this one (which I own)

After AvP-r I wouldn`t be so sure.
Maybe they dropped the bsp an sp predators and instead it's just being used as Nicknames for the predators like scar and wolf.
Yeah, but there still triple plasma caster is probably used, and we don`t know if black blood was changed. I`m still worried though I like masks of SPs.

We don`t and we should be cautious.
Re: The chaingun scene. I don't see why this is only being raised now. But anyway. If I had to guess who wrote that without knowing, I'd say Paul Anderson. That description leaves anyone over 16 redfaced just reading it. I mean come on. Bullet-time was old-hat by the first Matrix sequel.
Having said that, those 3 Predators are such a departure from the descriptions we read, I think we should take most of what we read with a grain of salt. But then, wasn't dialogue from the script overheard on the set?
A draft, I guess.
