Are you a 'casual' or 'hardcore' gamer?

I myself (obviously) would fit into the 'hardcore' category.

I can beat gears of war and unreal tournament III on insane mode ???

i mean i don't play xbox 360 too often but im still able to defeat gears of war on insane, halo 3 on legendary, call of duty 4 on highest difficulty (cant remember what its called) and ace combat 6 on ace of aces. so... yeh im pretty hardcore  ;)

I'm a gamer for 16 years, and I never select anything below highest difficulty in any game, even though it means inhuman challenge.

I don't think he's referring to the difficulty of a game.

There are people who play video games every once in a while to have fun.


And there are people who play a lot, because they like video games, they like investing a lot of time in them, and they like winning.

Just casual now, too much going on to put in the time.

but if i get a game i really like im fixed.

When i got MGS4 i played it non stop all day until i completed it the next day.

Thats cause MGS has a gripping story though ;)

I play casual, I don't play a game to brag about it, I play it for fun, and to chill out.

I'd say casual, but if I get really into a game I won't put it down.

Hardcore, I play games almost every day, & I love a challenge.

I certainly invest alot of time in video games, but I'm not the type who goes through games collecting every item, completing every challenge and playing on insane difficulties. Perhaps I'm a "hardcore casual" type of gamer ???

I am a casual gamer. I just play video games for fun.

Well i would say hardcore because if im not asleep or eating/drinking im on my 360 :D

I'm definitely just a casual gamer.
I have a PS2 but the most "hardcore" kind of game I have is a couple of Tomb Raider's (which I have never managed to play fully and finish - even with cheats :-\)
I don't mind games like that - but only if I try something a few times and get somewhere. I hate not getting anywhere! *lol*
From time to time I do play some games online, but just things along the lines of "Diner dash" or word games.

Thanks man, helped a bunch, usually never use the bio rifle, still havent beaten her, but it was 17-20 last time it, instead of 9-20, God is I wish there wasnt force respawn, and that I could use my instagib card.

Definitely used to be hardcore, but now I'm somewhere in between, maybe lean more towards casual.  Life gets in the way (in a good way) when you're married and work.  Luckily, my wife loves games too so she is understanding when I do finally obsess over a game.

I pretty much only buy the cream of the crop in games now since my time is limited and I usually beat them once (and usually on easy now) with as little effort as possible heh. 

I've noticed my patience for games has deteriorated over time so if I get stuck in a game, the journey usually ends there for me. :(  There are a few games that keep my interest even in the hard modes like Gears and Halo.

I am no longer a "hardcore" gamer, nowadays I rarely play videogames

My PS2 froze just I was about to kill a zombie and I though "f**k this", I'm not going to do the whole thing all over again so it might be awhile before I play that game again.

That's why I'm not a hardcore gamer because I get fed up and won't replay it 60 times just to beat the level.

Im Hardcore all the way. Any other hardcore gamers want to play Left 4 Dead of Aliens C:M. I love those squad based games. Any other games will do, but only on the 360. my tag is GPHazy. And I need a life. :D

Definitely hardcore...a little too much so actually. I can get so into a game that if I lose I start screaming. No, really. It's so unhealthy.

I read this in a magazine once: If it's just a game, why does it hurt so bad when you lose? I thought to myself, Hm, I never thought of that...and go figure, it was coming from a Best Buy ad of all places.

I'm a casual gamer, I play games just to get ideas for fan fictions.

Haha, yeah she's into games.  She once played Viva Pinata for 8 hrs straight.  I can't say I've ever done that.  Ever.  That's f*cking hardcore.  :P
