I wouldn't modify the stealth kill animation to be faster. i I would change them completely and have kill animations that only exist in MP. The current stealth kills are fine for SP, as you can distract your prey and the AI isn't nearly as aggressive as actual players.

The MP is fast, so there's no place for dramatic animated stealth kills. All the MP needs are kills like a swipe with the wristbladed that takes a head clean off, the Alien quickly headbiting someone without grabbing and turning him around, a simple stab in the neck or back

None of these options. What I think is needed is for the finish moves/SK animation sequences to be much faster, they're just too slow for a multiplayer game.

You can see how all the races were modified to fit MP games better(movement speed, health regen, cooldowns, etc.), but the SK/finishing moves were left as they were in SP.

And I'm against removing/turning them off as they are a core gameplay mechanic(at least for the current MP modes).

Unfortunately, modifying animations seems to be very complicated in games.  :-[

Personally stealth kills don't bother me much, but I do agree the range needs to be toned down. You can't really say it takes no skill because if you let yourself get caught from behind you've got no one to blame but your self for not being more cautious.

for me personally i like the stealthkill, especially as an alien.  cause for me it's harder to kill a pred or marine from the front. maybe it's inexperience?? i don't know. but if you can get behind your prey with out them knowing then you should be awarded for it. and as for people calling preds noobs for using the disc. shut up, it's not as bad as the disc when it could lock on to you in avp2 game this one can be doged same with the plasma caster.

Get back on topic people, I'm sure the crouch has it's own thread  ;)  :P

I did like Never's idea as well that if you have taken damage from someone then you cannot SK them till 5 seconds has passed.

There are a lot of good ideas out there to balance this feature out a lot better, I'm surprised REB never thought of them or had them brought to their attention by the game testers.

Cheers!

I'll give you the marine scenario, but wouldn't use it as pred, but thats just me 8)

Even a Predator appreciates the safety behind a box, if there currently isn't a place to jump to.

So what if Rebellion just added crouch and you wouldn't have to use it, but most of us would be more than happy to use it? Sounds good?

Are you trolling me?

When I fought synths in the marine campaign, there were crates scattered all around, even the synths were able to take cover.
Also as the predator I'd use it every time I stood cloaked on a tree/roof/cliff observing my prey cloaked to be less visible and a smaller target.

It may not be needed in MP (which is BS imo), but I had the urge to use it a lot in SP.
When?

dout it, the reason it is'nt in is cos they tried it but unless your in a ranged fight ie: marine v marine then it doesn't work cos aliens can see through objects and preds usually attack from above, yes you will have motion tracker but you cant attack in kneeling position so you will be attacked before you can stand and motion track only picks up direction of enemy so if your behind something you wont know wether its an alien on the wall/ceilling or if its a pred/marine coming at you from ground i personally dont want a crouch option cos never been in a position which warranted one. think about it in melee there is a auto-aim feature so crouching wont stop you getting hit and the reason for the auto-aim is so the character thats attacking doesn't look like hes flailing about and missing his target but actually causing damage, from a third person perspective ie: when two people are locked in melee and someone is watching

I'm positive crouch will be an option for both the marine and pred in the sequel, shitloads of people complained bout it now, Rebellion can't be that ignorant.

They will listen to the fans.

No need to change it imo. Maybe reduce range, but I can't see anything else wrong with it. Reminds players to turn around and check their tail often. There are things which trouble me much more, like the absence of crouching.

Well, you`re not the only one. Oh i miss it so..
