Alot of you would probably play Evac the good old way with players against players but just hear me out for a few. Like Survivor you'd have four ally marines up against countless hordes of aliens, however unlike survivor you arnt dealing with waves. You basically start out in one room with a door which has a specific countdown until it opens, in this room you fight very premature weak aliens in small numbers until you eventually get to room two where you are introduced to a new stronger enemy, however enemy number one in the first room is still present in this fight, and will be present throughout the entire game. As you progress from rooms to rooms your essentially just adding new units to the list of enemies to fight until eventually it comes down to the last room just before your escape and your up against every enemy imaginable.
Now of course these dont always have to be basic rooms per se, you could I suppose have room 2 be multiple narrow hall ways with a specific door that opens to room 3, changing the layout to your destinations ect. You could also possibly have small objectives you might want to accomplish in order to win that dont really effect the score but help with your survival, for instance having an unmounted sentry gun in room one which you must carry to room 3 to setup where the the computer instruments are for it to function, and while your carrying it to room 3 your vunerable with the lack of being able to use your weapon.
Another neat objective you could introduce would be possibly the aliens shutting off the power and for you to run back to a certain room to turn it back on, or perhaps activating power to a door to shut where you dont want aliens busting in at.
These objectives are choices for better or worse. Turning on the power will give you your lights back to see the enemy easier, but running back in the dark to turn it on could mean the end. Same goes for the sentry gun, carrying it to room 3 might save you later on, but the lack of having a weapon to use, and slowed run speeds could be possibly your death.
I love the idea of having the power switched off and on, with complete darkness except your flashlight. Should be something used in one of the regular MP maps as well.
During Evac you should feel as if the aliens are breathing down your neck, one slight misstep while moving and your toast. At times you should be hesitant to turn and look behind you, in your mind you know that they're nearing close.
