They need a good sculpt first of the film version before they do that.

Honestly never noticed them on any of my figures, originals or bootlegs. There are sometimes gaps in the sides of the dome that don't go all the way down, but never noticed fractures. Strange.

P. S. I doubt it's gonna happen, but I'd love if they did a 1/4 scale Dog Alien, it would be a great base for a huge custom Crusher..... ;)

Hey has anyone else experienced hairline cracks on their Xenos translucent dome? My Alien Resurrection Warrior, AVP warrior, Ultimate Big Chap all have this issue. Two of them were still in the packaging as well. Also saw a Resurrection Warrior at target and it also had these cracks.

They look like they're looking for a dropped coin though.

Personally, I generally have a problem with representations of the xenos in the figure area that are not film-accurate.
The industry has already come up with a lot of mutations.
there are only a few that are really good.
Strangely enough, things are completely different with Predator. There are a lot of free interpretations by sculptors that look much better than those in the film.

the dog alien, who also inspired the runners in the AVP games and Fireteam,
also has the ability to move on 2 legs. The runners actually only move on 4 legs.
The hind legs are correspondingly short while the original dog alien has quite long hind legs.
That's why I never really liked the runners because they scurry around like little rats in the games.
How cool would the original Dog Alien have been?
Most comics are pretty bad because the xenos often come across as far too massive and muscular.
This representation should remain with the predator.
a xenomorph must be wiry and slim.
The banana head must appear slightly oversized.
Mc Farlane's AR and AvP figures are pretty much the worst xeno figures I've ever seen.

Like I said I totally get that and I agree. They somehow did not make that mistake with the Prowler and Burster with the face area. (Which can be fixed with some hot water, cold water, and water texture paint.) But better the face than the whole figure for me.

Also it does come out taller than all the humans and some of the Predators that I have.

It can also run on one arm and one leg with the others in the air it is so well balanced, good luck getting "the ultimate" doing anything similar.

If a Runner figure can not do this pose then I think it does not succeed as a depiction of the main trait of it honestly, that being the posture, and elegance in that particular way of moving rather uniquely from the other Aliens.

Quote from: BlueMarsalis79 on Mar 04, 2024, 11:52:50 AMI can get not liking the Fireteam Elite Runner figure face area, I do not love it myself, but in size terms?

It still towers over most one tenth scale figures, just not to the degree of the Ultimate one, but the pose potential, the detail, the balance, the symmetry, the sculpt and paintjob outweigh the face being somewhat weird.
(Weird that they nailed it with the Prowler and Burster)

Look at the Ultimate from above and you can see the dome's literally f**king slanted to one side, it's so awful looking, look at the legs and arms being completely alternate sculpts, or the giant ball joints at the pelvis that comes further out to one side that the other.

It is just a poor representation of my favourite Alien.

If you do not like the Fireteam Elite Runner, I totally can get the reasons behind why, but that does not therefore make the Ultimate not a total mess because it absolutely is.

Counterpoint: That's your opinion and you're welcome to it, people are allowed to like things you don't.

The face on the FTE runner isn't "somewhat weird", it's genuinely bad and doesn't look like the Alien3 runner. If you want a representation of the movie runner, the FTE one fails at that point, full stop. The Lanard Toys runner's face is more accurate than the FTE one. I think you've said the FTE toy is based on the in-game renders from FTE, but even I am willing to call shenanigans on that - I don't believe the in-game model's face looked as bad as the toy's does. But I'm willing to be wrong on that, it's been a bit since I played the game or seen direct comparisons.

The runner shouldn't tower over "most" NECA humans, it should tower over all of them. If it doesn't, the size is wrong.

I think the paintjob looks great, the FTE one absolutely is not enough of an improvement to justify buying what I see as an otherwise inferior product.

And believe me, I really like the Alien3 runner, it's one of my favorite designs too. But the Ultimate one hits all the right notes for me, it looks great, it's big, I can get it in all the poses I want, the accessories are cool, AND it was cheaper than the FTE one.

Edit--

The toy's upper lip and jaw protrudes out more than the render does, and neither of them look quite like the one in the movie (although the render's version is substantially closer).

With Aliens, the face is the first thing my eye gravitates towards, and it's real easy to screw that up and make the whole production unappealing to my eyes. The FTE toy does this (on top of its other problems), making it an instant dealbreaker. If the face wasn't jacked up, I'd likely have bought it. Shit, I've seen it in stores as recently as like 3 weeks ago and I held it in my hands and said "do I want this?" and then I'd look at the face and say "yeah nah, the Ultimate one will do".

Of course, all of this is my opinion and preferences. You do you. :)
