Unfortunately you can only explore parts of the Hive, you cannot interact with the Alpha Core or redirect power to the Central Core. You can encounter two Facehuggers that you can smash and 3 eggs that will open for you ( but 2 without Facehuggers oddly ) and one scripted Alien encounter that will automatically slip into a vent.
I haven't seen this mentioned anywhere else on the Internet. Anyone else tried this before?
It's impossible... You said Chapter 14, but Chapter 14 is the Chapter where we discover the hive. And you describe a Chapter that seems to be the 16th, and yes in the 16th, we have an access of all of the station. But it's after Chapter 14... What you said is impossible, so what do you mean ?
Hmmm, it's been too long ago now to remember exactly what. All I know is, it's at the point where you still posses your flamethrower. It may have been Chapter 12 or 13.

- Aug 04, 2017, 05:34:09 PMI did, back when I wanted to explore the entire station. I could reach the room with the hazmat Joes, but couldn't take the elevator down. The game said it was out of service. I imagine that this is the reason nobody talks about it.
A similarly cool feature about the reactor core is that you can make it to the control room in it as early as mission 3. You just won't be able to do anything in it. When you arrive at the Systech Spire, just take the tram to Maintenance and you should be able to find it.
