Lol - is this where I chime in and say check out my fan fic?
Ya, I've read it, and it's great. The Sydney Opera House was a nice touch. Have you ever considered writing a screenplay for another AvP story?
Thanks - i've been thinking about it.  Lately I've been thinking about a Predator 3 story.
I think you should do it... why not?  And if the studio doesn't take notice, you can always just make a website that features all of your fan-fiction.  It would be a great way to show off your writing talent, and maybe someone might then take interest.

They look like they're stuck in music video mode with quick editing and cliffnote pacing, only telling the short version of the story. They should tackle some other projects and deeply analyze good movies seeing what makes it work before attempting an AvP3. The visual effects are down, so work on the other areas.

I completely agree with you.  I definitely think they're on the right track, and if they are involved in an AvP3, hopefully they will have learned a bit from the mistakes they did make. But honestly, the Aliens and Predator movies have never used the same director twice, so...
Maybe that doesn't mean anything though.

The problem with Anderson's movie was that there was little action AND focused on crappy characters whereas AvPR had better/more action, shitty characters, shit plot, and shit pacing. AvPR was more of a sidegrade than an upgrade.

AvP gives the impression that the movie fails for not having enough battles (in general). After AvPR, we now know that you can't win people over by splicing in a bunch of random action sequences. When people with bad taste in movies can tell your characters are crappy, you know you've failed and have to hope the action is enough to draw them in. You'd need action of 300 caliber for that to work. If your audience isn't engaged with the story or characters when the creatures aren't on screen, it'll fall flat...just counting down the minutes 'til they pop up again.

Also, the Strauses don't know how to tell a long story yet or know how to direct actors. They look like they're stuck in music video mode with quick editing and cliffnote pacing, only telling the short version of the story. They should tackle some other projects and deeply analyze good movies seeing what makes it work before attempting an AvP3. The visual effects are down, so work on the other areas.

But wouldn't you like for the movies to get back some off it's former glory,
I think good characters is the key, Alien, Aliens wouldn't be the same without Ripley,
nor would the two Predator movies have been the same without their cast.

I agree with you... but what do you want to spend your time on... getting to know the human characters, or watching the creatures duke it out??   ALIEN and ALIENS had great character development because the majority of the film was focused on them.  Anderson tried to do that with AvP, and failed... because in a movie like AvP, you want to see more of the A and the P.  I agree with you though, it can be done.

Yeah, I also would like to see more off the creatures, to find out more about them would be nice also.
When I think about it, it looks like a hard job for any director too pull off,
I mean the fan base hasn't been quiet when they took our creatures and made them lesser,
The Predator got his day at the doctor and came out what some ppl call retarded in avp,
The Alien somehow bumped in to the same doctor in avp-R.
I hope they fire that doctor before shooting AVP3...

In AvP?

One barely visible roll on the floor, a disc to the face, some pot shots in a corridor and the fight with the Queen. Hardly great or plentiful creature action.

Both.

AvP didn't deliver on either.

Of course I'll go see it...I'd been waiting 14 YEARS for AvP so I'm not about to complain about what  I know will be  a sh*t film!!

AVP-R sucked big balls, yes, but I still want more - thats what fans are like. Most people dont give a sh*t about it having no stars or directing, writing talent - all they wanna see is Aliens and Preds onscreen at the same time preferabley fighting.

You dont need to waste money on good cast and crew etc cos the main draw is the Aliens and Preds - they are the stars, they are the attraction and Hollywood knows that.

But wouldn't you like for the movies to get back some off it's former glory,

I'm looking forward leaveing the cinema with the same feeling I had after seeing "Batman begins" for the first time, I would hate to leave the cinema with the feeling I got after watching "Batman Forever"...

And "Batman begins" is proof that a series off movies can be saved when we all thought it couldn't
