Thread resurrection time.
Finally got around to taking some pics of the Play Arts Spitter Alien.

Just took some pictures. Got the Spitter about a month ago. Lurker arrived yesterday. Spent (totals with shipping) $60 on the Spitter and $65 on the Lurker, ordered on eBay and Amazon respectively. Worth every penny but don't spend anymore than I did if you're interested.

And a few size comparisons. NECA vs PA Kai and PA Kai vs NECA, SH Monster Arts, Revoltech and Takara Microman. Feel free to ask any questions.

I got both of these guys in the mail the other day, they totally own. I expected to prefer the Lurker, but the Spitter is really, really cool. The differences in the sculpt are really cool, and the acid sacs on the head are done as transparent domes over bright green sculpted details underneath, so it gives a lot of depth to the design. I scored them on ebay for $65 each and I think they're worth it, but I wouldn't pay much more than that. They're seriously big (bigger than NECA stuff by a reasonable margin) and chock-full of detail. I love NECA stuff to bits, but I don't mind paying a bit of a premium for big Alien figures as cool as this in unconventional designs that we likely won't see from NECA.

I picked up the Lurker. I like what Play Arts did with Isaac Clarke. I'm really impressed with the articulation. In comparison to the SH Monsterarts AVP Alien Warrior, the Lurker is pretty amazing. I wasn't expecting it to be as bloody big as it is, which probably accounts for a lot of the cost (And it was pricey, especially in Canadian $'s).
However, in comparison to the Revoltech line, and the SH Monsterarts line, and even the NECA line, when it's sitting in that alcove in my bookshelf staring intently out at the room it really is in its own element. Poor Isaac Clarke doesn't even know what's coming.

I really liked the Spitter - not for that price though.

What a joke for that price. Who would pay so much for such horrendous versions of the Xenomorph? The sculptor definitely did a good job on them, but he/she is not the one who created the design.

Why doesn't/can't this company focus on the original films like what Neca and Bandai are doing? I'm sure they would do a great job if they did, and I'd pay the money for it.

I just don't have the room or appetite to see ugly looking Xenomorphs on my shelfs. I want the original beauties.
Horrible game/designs or not, let's face the fact that there are many incarnations of the same movie likeness figures out there. I'm glad that they got permission to do these designs since, like I've mentioned before, the figures and other supplemental stuff that's based on these titles are even better than the title itself. I will agree that the price is awful high. I'll see if I can't get any of the eBay sellers to go lower. I do want them, believe it or not.

I meant the price compared to other figures from the same line by the same company.

Size and license might be a factor in the price.

Size?

They have only 20 cm.

The Aliens from NECA have 22 cm  :P

Lurker looks pretty bad to me, just like the model in the game itself. It's supposed to be the classic Giger Alien, but it just doesn't pull it off to me at all. I may put up the money for the Spitters though, as they might be the closest I get to having a Praetorian-ish Alien that can fit with my NECA stuff.

Weren't their mass effect figures half the price of these?  Think their halo figures where a lot cheaper too
