This post should probably be in both the PROMETHEUS and ALIEN 5 boards.

http://masterherald.com/prometheus-2-to-have-a-connected-plotline-with-alien-5/12190/

Like most of the articles I am reading regarding the development of Alien 5, this one seems to have been poorly researched. There are several articles claiming A5 takes place b/w Alien and Aliens, others b/w Aliens and A3, and others claiming it is ignoring the 3rd and 4th films.
All of this stuff seems only further complicated by Blomkamp's vagueries.
This time we are cast into doubt by Blomkamp having said that his Alien's connections to Prometheus, he felt, should be kept in his hand of cards...
So here we are with this article claiming it does indeed have a clear connection to P2.
But it also asserts that Prometheus 2 does not yet have a script.

We all know Ridley Scott has confirmed multiple times that the script was redrafted several times before he declared it "ready to go."

So...

Doesnt really confirm anything with certainty.  I really hope Alien V doesnt directly tie into Prometheus-canon too much or at all for that matter.  Please no albino humans playing flutes for Christ's sake...

With the exception of AVP, which to me should just be it's own series of films, separate from PREDATOR and ALIEN franchises (so it is liberated from them), I am of the strict opinion that nothing should ignore anything that happened prior to it. Prometheus made A3 and A:R better films if you ask me.

The singular issue I have with PROM is the same I have with A:R, and that is they both do not stand alone without follow ups.
If you end a film with a cliffhanger, you have to move forward or you cheapen the whole. You should never go backwards. Not ever. Not on anything in life.

I agree that AVP isnt canon to the alien films. ( I mean it directly contradicts alien-canon by claiming that aliens already infested Earth at some point even though the first ALIEN film establishes that humanity never came into contact with a Xeno before).  Prometheus on the other hand is arguable at least.  I personally dont like to consider ALL of it canon, mabe just certain aspects or ideas.  I hate the explanation for the Space Jockey, for example, as i've said.

I believe all of it. Every badly-translated word.

It was the picture from AVPR in the Prometheus section that sealed the deal.  ;D

I wouldn't put stock in that article but I can DEFINITELY see the two parts of the series connecting up. It seems like they are pretty much guaranteed to connect at some point.

Absolutely, according to Scott the script for Prometheus 2 is ready, Blomkamp has also shown fox his ideas for Alien 5, which includes the derelict engineer craft and Ripley in the space jockey suit. Fox know this is a big opportunity for them to bring closure to Ripleys story and answer some of the questions about the derelict engineer craft, plus build on the existing Prometheus mythology. So making the two films overlap can potentially draw a bigger audience and is a potential money spinner for Fox, plus answering more questions about the engineers in general by exploring the derelict craft. Both scripts will still go through many changes throughout production (an example to look at is the furious gods documentries included with the prometheus collectors edition blu ray) and as we know the Alien 5 script is not confirmed as being completed, i wonder has Blomkamp given his opinion of Prometheus?. I think both scripts will go through many changes, was the jockey from the derelict a superior elder engineer? he is certainly substantially larger in size, does he have the same motive as the engineer in Prometheus?. Answering more questions in Alien 5 would also give the creative team and script writers alot more room to explore the engineers too, it's a high probability both films will connect and i wouldn't put it past fox to use Alien 5 as the jumping off point to begin a new alien trilogy with new characters too.

Although we don't know practically nothing about the premise of this movie, I have my doubts about the size of the Engineers. What would be the solution to this "plot hole"?

And only if we see something related to the Space Jockeys in the final film:

1. They will say to us that the ancient Engineers are higher than those who are young?

2. That there are two different species?

3. Or they will ignore this detail in order to respect that new concept from Prometheus? (Ie Engineers equivalent in size to these humanoids that we saw in Prometheus?)

4. Another possibility would be something similar to Alien Isolation: Ignore, while not contradicting anything at all. Just show us a Juggernaut without going too deeply into its true nature.

If they are connecting Alien 5 to Prometheus 2 then Alien is going to be butchered more than when A:R came out. I hope this is not the case.

My thoughts on Blomkamps recent comments over the potential for 2 movies with Ripley, and how Promtheus is tied into that - if I had to wager - its Blomkamp's 'mental stroll through the world Ridley Scott created' included Prometheus and it gave him his idea for what the Company actually wants with the creature and then he thought, if I throw Ripley into that, then I have one movie about her confronting the Company and then one where she goes after the bigger picture.

I like the idea that the Engineers were created by the Jockeys who are superior being and that the Engineers lived under the rule of the Jockeys.

They then fled their masters and stole their technology and over milleniums started mimicking their masters by creating new species (us) and developing their own religion/culture.
