its complicated... i guess cause they're at heart horror films, with sci fi elements, ie, obviously some are set in the future but they arent filled with alien species, they have one scary one in them. And they are way more adult then star wars... and they have cooler, sleeker names. Alien. Predator. Alien Vs. Predator. i mean, who would have chosen a name like star wars? only george lucas.
