Cheers for the link!
Much appreciated!
Thanks man!
I'm gonna buy it right now ;D
Was hoping for the little 30 second samples, but oh well eh! :P
Well, hopefully the titles of each track won't give away secrets or plot points to the film...
Pre-ordered. Hopefully it doesn't suck. :P
I love it. They are taking pre-orders, and I bet you dollars to donuts that the final score hasn't even been completed yet.
That's nothing new. You can preorder movie tie-in merchandise like soundtracks and books long before they even get printed or pressed to disc.

I know, but talk about taking a leap of faith. This is Marc Streitenfeld we are talking about, here. :o
I presume, even though he has been given his walking papers, much of the soundtrack will still be his work (although, I could be wrong, and maybe Ridley is throwing it all out, and starting over).
His walking papers??? Care to elaborate?? ;)

I probably could have chosen less pointed words. However, it never is a good sign when it is disclosed that an additional composer is being brought in to "complete" the score. This typically is Hollywood-speak for "the original composer of record couldn't cut it, so we need to bring in other talent". Now, if it was a collaborative effort from the very start, that is one thing, but (as far as I know), Streitenfeld was the sole composer at the outset.

it was confirmed by Harry Gregson-Williams (and not gregson & (john) williams ), that he will contribute one song called "creation".
you will hear it at the beginning, in the middle and at the end.
seems to be the main theme or sort of.

Awesome!
QuoteThis typically is Hollywood-speak for "the original composer of record couldn't cut it, so we need to bring in other talent".
Doesn't necessarily mean they "couldn't cut it". Could simply mean that what they delievered wasn't what the director wanted.
If Harry Gregson-Williams is being brought in on this, how come his name isn't attached to the cover as well?

Either its too late for his stuff to be mastered and put on the album alongside Streitenfeld's work (ugh), or it's a typical Zimmer Composer job, where the "main" composer gets front cover credit, while the composers who did the rest of the score get an asterisk next to their track titles with "*Composed by so-and-so" in tiny print in the liner notes.

Depends who did the bulk of the work. The Two Towers didn't list Isabel Bayrakdarian and Sheila Chandra on the front. It was just Howard Shore.
Thanks for the answers. I feel if he's contributing to the soundtrack, he still should get recognition despite whatever capacity he's involved in.
If he contributed it'll be on the back or in the credits.

Initially that's what I thought too, but it's not the same font. Very odd that it does channel it so well. :)
I'm excited for this soundtrack, I loved Streitenfelds Robin Hood score. :)

As long as no one gets Track 14 while doing Track 2. Be safe, people. Wear your space helmets.
Couple of nods to lines from Alien in there...?
Spoiler
Track 2 Parker to Brett, "alright, we're goin' in.... we're going in"
Track 4 Kane, looking at the egg, "there's movement, it appears to have life"
Just for fun, track 17, Newt to Ripley, "Moooommmy!" :P
I guess track 11 refers to the ass-flower...
I like these track names, which of course may not represent the order the cues appear in the film. Plus, knowing the way Ridley's previous films have 'mucked around' with composer's score (Alien, Legend etc) then the score we hear in the movie theatre may bear little relation to what's on this CD.
I find the track names a bit uninspired...hopefully that doesn't reflect the music.
How much of it do you think appeared in the featurette's ?
Track #11: Hammerpede.
Wooo, they didn't tell me there was going to be a hammer-headed giant centipede!

I don't think we do know that. The tracks do not necessarily come in the same order as the cues are used in the movie.
Notice that the hypersleep and small beginnings are over half-way down the list, and we would expect the events associated with such titles to occur earlier.

Just a thought about this hammerpede thing...
1) Would people agree that it may refer to a creature we have not yet seen in the trailers?
2) Is is fair to say that 'pede' (strictly speaking) means something with feet (i.e., not a snake)?
3) Is is plausible that 'hammerpede' implies a creature with feet and perhaps a hammer-shaped head, not unlike our old xeno friend (but not the xeno itself, as we are told this is not in the movie).
