The average punter?

The general audience. Predators never really made a huge mainstream splash. People know Adrian Brody, of course, but how many folks out there outside of the fandom really have any vivid recollection of Royce?

Most of these movies aren't a mainstream splash, just the 1st and AVP (1st), really.

I'd bet average movie goers would remember a little better of Danny Glover than Adrian Brody.

Alien, Aliens, and Predator are all iconic not just within the fandom, but to moviegoers at large. Everyone (above a certain age, at least) knows them. Alien 3 features what might just be the franchise's most iconic, recognizable shot. Prometheus and Alien: Covenant have both been undergoing a bit of a resurgence in the form of certain revisionism as of late, even outside of the core fandom, and both recent entries, Prey and Alien: Romulus, are pretty much the most broadly successful the franchises have been with wider audiences in decades.

Most people I know in real life are the, "I don't watch TV" crowd. At night, they play video games or scroll through social media on their phone. Thankfully, I do have one local friend who's actually seen the same movies/shows at me, or at least knows the genres well enough to follow the conversation.

I get what you're saying, though. Predator 1-2 are old enough to be "common knowledge" to people who watch a lot of movies, AVP too, because it was such a big deal when it came out. The later films, not so much.

Nightmare Asylum

I'd argue that AVP as an idea or concept is probably more iconic/has more cultural resonance than the movie itself does.

Possible, but most people I know locally don't really follow film/TV and extended media unless it's superhero stuff. I know, I know, that's "locally," but I'm just sharing my personal experience. I've never really been involved in fandoms beyond internet forums. hah
