Resurrection doesn't look like it belongs in the same universe due to its 200 year gap; it's very generic sci-fi of the period.  Romulus looks like an Alien film.

Having no original design ideas isn't an achievement.

The interior designs of the Auriga are the least visually interesting in the whole series.

Alien 1-3 and Romulus visually feel like they share the same universe. Resurrection feels like a generic scifi inspired by Alien. However Sigourney Weaver as Ripley 8 is  the highlight that brings it home. Also some great effects from ADI.

I agree.. it shouldn't be the same; but that's one of the (many) problems with it not feeling like an Alien movie... Alien has a certain 'look/vibe/feel'... it's like that god awful concept art for 'Alien 5' that we dodged a bullet on - Blomkamp, like Jeunet and Whedon, didn't get Alien either 😅

Man I'm down with discussing the bonus situation but I'm wondering if it's worth it to discuses the Romulus situation? :P

There's no Romulus aka Rémoulade situation.

Incredible that there are people that wanted this Blomkamp crappy reconning of Alien 3... Those were the AlienS fans mostly, of curse 😡

I was defending it a long time ago, then I learned about what was in store and changed my mind.

Hey don't blame Aliens fans for that disaster. They didn't want it either.

Biehn and Weaver seemed very keen on it though.

Resurrection is much better.  It's not even close.

It has better characters, better set-pieces, no stupid fan service.

I've seen Romulus twice and I think I'm good, I can't see me bothering ever again.  I've seen Resurrection a stupid amount of times.  It's a lot more fun

There are a few fan-servicey call-backs like Newt's "no monsters" line, but they're relevant to the plot.

Romulus, conversely, all but has the characters turning to camera and quipping "stop your grinnin' and drop your linen!" with absolutely no context while sipping from a can of W-Y Aspen Beer and putting their Reebok Alien Stomper-clad feet on the nearest table a la Garth in Wayne's World.

It's like people only do things because they get paid, and that's just really sad!
