That's a big concern of mine as well... I have yet to see any Unreal Engine 5 game with stellar AI like in Isolation, Stalker and Fear.
The most recent example is Stalker 2. The AI is a lot worse than the original, it's an unoptimized mess and of course it runs on UE5.
UE5 has a lot of power hungry features that are turned on by default. A lot are unnecessary and with manual optimization can be made so much more efficient. It just requires will power and time. Isolation was a fantastic example of how well it was optimized.
Optimization and AI are my biggest concerns for the game. The obstacles are completely surmountable, it just depends on what the developers focus on. The game needs to be playable and not a broken mess on launch day. The AI can not afford to be worse than the high bar it setup.
I really want this game to be something special. I have such high hopes but I am weary of the sloppiness of the games industry today, which of course is down to the big companies constantly firing their experienced staff, demanding crunch and not paying them enough. If this game is done with care, we could have something special.
