Somehow in all these years I never really noticed or even thought about it but today I realized that during Celtic's fight with Grid, the corpse of Colin Salmon's character impaled with the spear is visible in the background during some shots.
It was interesting to me because if he'd retrieved it, he would have had a weapon that enabled him to keep his distance which was also acid resistant unlike his wristblades so he'd probably have won the fight handily instead of brawling with it and trying to kill it up close.
I don't know if he'd actually have had any realistic time to get the spear back without getting jumped. Later on, you see how fast it retracts but it was stuck in a wall and that split second he might have taken to get it out could have got him killed anyway.
However, I just like the contrast that Celtic was very careless with his weaponry while Scar was conservative with his which came in handy against the Queen. It's nice to still discover new things in a 20 year old movie.
