Yes but not entirely.  It would be a way for many fans, hardcore and casual to connect with beloved characters.  It is obvious that there is not enough interest in continuing the story post-Resurrection.  The same goes for Alien 3.  So continuing after Aliens on a different tangent makes sense.  The Verheiden story is rich in its broad strokes.  It would be incredible if we got to see an earth infestation and then the engineers come and save the world, but for their own purposes.  I think it's also very important to be respectful of the Maestro, James Cameron's work.

If Alien Earth is canon then it will not result in an infestation.  If it is not canon, then it could be indeed an infestation.  Potentially confusing, yes.  But perhaps also an interesting test to see if there is any interest in that sort of story, though execution is everything. If we have a Bladerunner-type world with bugs in it, that would be epic.

Plagiarus Praepotens really dials up the stakes on an earth infestation though.  If it were just traditional aliens of old, those could be wiped with some effort, but if literally every animal could be contaminated with black goo, I don't see a way to fix that, short of Engineers just snapping Thakor fingers and saying, let it stop.

You're not in the least bit concerned that for every new species (alien or not) discovered, there's always a Latin name for it?  That's always been my first concern.  ;-)

I like that she says she thinks Alien 3 was good. I don't like when actors/directors diss their own movies, like that feels insulting to fans of said movies. Matthew Lillard seems to do this alot (not just his recent Scream comments).

While it is always difficult to determine anything about public figures (keep in mind, these people maintain an image, it's part of their business, they are not our friends)... It feels like Sigourney Weaver always displayed the upmost respect for her collaborators and the movies she worked on.

Charles Dance has always been candid, Alien³ was his favourite film he has worked on last time he got asked about it, and he thinks better than Aliens.

Wouldn't be shocked if earth hive becomes the Thrawn trilogy in that they create some kind of adaptation

For years I've wanted alien 5 to be where the homeworld of the xenos is discovered. I can imagine WY or some other company looking to exploit it as per... It could delve into how they evolved and the different classes etc.

As for Ripley I think she's done. The only way she could return is because she's got alien dna she could feel the homeworld calling her or be used as a beacon to find it. Just ideas
