Marvel Announces New Anthology Series, Alien: Black, White and Blood

Despite the fact that I will continue to maintain that incorporating Gibson's UPP into - well - anything, is incredibly dumb, Utopia is the best thing Marvel have done with this license thus far.

Everything else in Black, White and Red is forgetable stories with some cool art.

Did you ever discuss that with the powers that be?

No. We did talk about how China would be a major player prior to the mouse taking over, but not in any great detail, and I've not talked to anyone there since.  This comes from using the RPG as the be-all-and-end-all source of lore now.

I had no discussions about the UPP.

Does the UPP occupy the same realm of unwanted lore as praetorians?

[SM]

No. Praetorians are bullet sponges in video games and ultimately of little consequence. The UPP is a stale depiction of Cold War communism that was outdated five minutes after Gibson invented it 35 years ago.
