Yeah agreed. Though morally wrong I don't find what he did irredeemable, especially since he already served his time for it.

Now if he does it again...

Yeah I agree that he at least spent time in prison, even though he technically didn't serve time for the wiretapping, since the thing that he was accused of doing that sent him to jail, was the fact that he kept lying and contradicting himself about the details to the FBI.

But honestly, returning to the idea that he could direct a future predator movie, I don't think that I would be excited until I see if the final product is good, since he has not directed anything in 20 years, he only directed the first movie and the last time that there was a big deal about the newest movie being worked on by people who worked on the first one, we got The Predator.

Yeah who knows which John McTiernan would show up. I just know, in his day the guy had a lot of talent and created some iconic movies. Predator for me being the best and most unique. So I would be behind his return and behind a good redemption story.

But either way, that will never happen. I mean never so it's a null thought.

Yes and look how Ridley's films were received

In terms of Scott's films, I won't speak on how they were received by others, only myself and I enjoy them.

And with John Mctiernans successful original and iconic film in Predator, I'd give the guy another shot at the plate. His vision and direction with the '87 film established the character and to me sets that film far... far above everything that came after it.

I like Prometheus. I don't like Covenant, but I like the feel of the movie. Any Scott movie, good or bad, just has great visuals and feels like cinema to me.

But Scott returning has clearly divided the fan base to some degree. With the directions he wanted to take the franchise and other decisions.

Now is that for good or bad is up to the viewer.

Personally, it's not what I wanted and it took a while for Prometheus to grow on me. But I think it's salvageable still. And I do appreciate the expanded lore in the alien universe.

Anyways, leading up to Prometheus I remember being pumped and a lot of others knowing Scott was coming back. Some aren't so happy about that anymore. I'm mixed. But I still think he should finish off the trilogy.

The OG Predator director would be interesting to see come back. I wonder what he envisioned for the future of the Predator movies.

And I can't remember how responsible he was for the Predator itself, I know Stan Winston had a lot to do with it, but in terms of direction and how the Predator was to act, was that his idea? Similar to Scott with alien?

Not so much the same as Scott and Alien - below I've added an article, a quick and fun read that delves into the production of the original 87' Predator film explaining the roles and responsibilities involved. Screenwriters Jim and John Thomas came up with the idea and wrote the script but it was under Mctiernan that the vision was depicted on film giving us what we have in the classic, Predator.
