I always liked David Julyan's score.  Never did understand why he stopped working with Nolan.

Perhaps Nolan stopped working with him.

That would seem to be the case. He gradually got on that Hans Zimmer train and didn't hop back off until Tenet (although Julyan did a few movies after Batman Begins with him).

Overall, decent but not great. I did like how it was basically a stealth sequel to Incredible Hulk, and the Leader was cool.

Definitely the weirdest possible President Jack Ryan movie we could have gotten.
I think Harrison ford saved this movie. Should never have called it captain America. I did like return to espionage plot

Munich

One of Spielberg's best.

Got a friend caught up on Alien/Predator stuff, who hadn't seen Covenant, Romulus or Prey. He liked all of them, and said that he thought all the bitching about Covvie was totally overblown, and that Prey was his favourite of the three.

Quote from: Prez on Mar 21, 2025, 11:41:10 PMMemento - FINALLY got round to seeing this as it's been on my to watch list for well over a decade and some. What can I say - it's typical Nolan time jumps and very confusing. I think some sense of Aussie pride forced to persist with it (given Guy Pearce was the lead). Still not sure if I like this film.
Boooo

One of my favourite movies and one of the few Nolan movies I like.

I hear ya. I didn't say I didn't like it but it was and wasn't what I expected. I think I need to rewatch it. I love the cast. I also love Lenny's ongoing narrative.

Sir Gawain and the Green Knight. Loved how it was a throwback to old early 80s sword and sorcery movies with dark forests and bleak landscapes and smoke, with a healthy dose of Gilliam. Good cast. I knew about half way through it was going to be some weird arse ending.

The 70s film or the 80s remake (by the same director) with Sean Connery?

L.A. Confidential

"Hit the road, pal."
"Maybe I will... Maybe I won't."
"LAPD, shitbird. Get the f**k outta here or I'll call your wife to come get you."

The word masterpiece gets thrown around a lot but this really is one of the best movies I've ever seen.

"I don't think Hollywood is ready for the real me."

Understatement of the century.

The new one with Fifield, Ford, Fassbender's missus and Owen Lars.

Oh right. Could've sworn it had the full name on Amazon.

And the titles had 'Sir Gawain and the' at the start with other cards popping up throughout the film.

Also - not sure where this should go but just saw this about Drew Struzan's alzheimers.

I did enjoy that Green Knight film - offbeat, not what I expected and I get your Gilliam references too.

Yes, very sad news about Drew. Such a horrible disease.
